The hotel was easily walkable from the train station. The rooms was so thoughtfully put together. There was everything that we could possibly need from a hot plate to cook on, all the utensils and kitchen stuff we needed, pajamas, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toiletries for the taking, slippers, a vacuum for small messes, super sharp scissors, everything! The beds were so fun with the bunk beds and double beds below. Our kids loved the room too!

The receptionist who checked us in was so friendly, and the hotel is super clean, had a little tub in the shower, beds were comfy for me, pillows were not bad I still had a good sleep. I usually wear an earplug to sleep but the two nights we stayed I never wear them cus the location, altho it's in between odori and susukino, it was sooo quite.

Location is perfect, right where Tanujikoji Shopping Street and underground mall are located. Also near Mall, Odori Park and Sapporo TV tower. You can walk to anywhere from this location. Airport bus terminal is less than a 5-minute walk away, across Hotel Abest. Take note though that this is the 4th or 5th airport bus stop, lots of vacant seats but will have many stops before heading to the airport. If you are pressed for time, go to airport bus stop that goes direct to the airport - either in Odori or Susukino. There's free coffee, ramen and ice pops. Public bath was also interesting, but we were not able to try. Massage chair in the lounge was so good. Use of washing machine is free, while dryer is 100Y per 30 min cycle. A day's laundry for a family of 4 took 4 cycles (2 hours) to dry.

The location is good. It is about an 8-minute walk from Higashimuroran Station. You need to pay attention to prevent slipping on snowy days. The room is clean and tidy, and the service is thoughtful. When the front desk knew that we wanted to see the sunrise, he pointed out the unreasonable part of our itinerary and kindly told us where to go to watch it. Although it was relatively remote, we saw an amazing scenery. onsen is good, breakfast very nice. actually i've booked the dormitory's room, but as arrived there, the staff said to me that it is too risky for women with no friend stay at dormitory's room, so they changed my room to single room with shower, tv, ac, and above all they did not charge me an additional payment, lucky for me on those day.🥹☺️

It was our first visit to Hokkaido, we drove into Sapporo after touring other areas within Hokkaido. There are lots of restaurants/ cafes/ bakeries to enjoy and many day trip opportunities. People are very nice although we felt they don't express with smiles as much as in other parts of Japan. Hokkaido, in general, was great to drive around while within Sapporo taxi is the most convenient and was of good value for two of us to get around. It was difficult to communicate the destination with drivers. You want to save the image of the location address in Japanese character to show. The phone number of the destination also works but hotel numbers are generally for reservation and you want to ask the hotel to provide the phone number that can be used for GPS input.

There is a special charm around Hakodate, which is infectious and friendly. Indeed one of the helpers at the station thanked me, as a tourist from the UK, for coming to Hakodate. It isn't a big city - but by Japanese standards, but it offers a lot for the visitor. Plenty to see and do for a few days and with the sea on both sides of the city it offers good views in almost all directions. It is so easy to get about, although, for me, walking was ideal, it isn't too far to get to anywhere in the city. If you do go up to Mt Hakodate, be aware that they do cram you on the cable car - called a ropeway here, so for the claustrophobic, make sure you stand at the edge. Also, just before and just after dusk is when its most popular and as they don't limit the number of people going up, it gets very very very crowded. (It is the only place I've been in Japan when the people are pushing and shoving to get views)

A Soulful Blend of History and Innovation

A Soulful Blend of History and Innovation Otaru is an exceptional city, an old harbor town with stunning sea views and beautifully preserved architecture. Walking through its streets, I felt transported into the past, surrounded by buildings that reflect how ancient Japanese communities lived, worked, and innovated. The craftsmanship and simplicity of their old technologies seem to echo in today’s advanced systems, as if modern Japan grew directly from this timeless foundation. It was my first time experiencing such a deep connection between tradition and progress. The city’s atmosphere gave my soul rest. I felt genuinely happy the moment I saw Otaru’s vibe—peaceful, authentic, and quietly powerful. I highly recommend Otaru to anyone seeking inspiration, reflection, or a glimpse into the roots of Japan's technological spirit.

We loved Asahikawa, a very fun little city with a huge variety of bars and restaurants, easy access to local ski resorts, lots to see and do, and just a really fun, friendly vibe. Was a nice change after the hectic pace of Niseko. We will return next year and give ourselves a bit more time to have a really good look around (could do with 7 nights - our stay was 4 nights). Enjoyed the bonus of the winter festival being on during our stay, with spectacular ice sculptures the whole length of the main street, plus a big festival zone with activities, a huge ice stage, and dozens of food vans. We will be back for sure.

It was unexpectedly great!

It was unexpectedly great! It was a quaint little town with lots of restaurants and little shops to explore. If you have a car, you can travel beyond the 5 km range for more touristy spots, but just having a bike means you can already explore a cheese factory, go up the cable car, a nearby winery, a horse riding school and a couple of flower farms. So, it's a great place for people who cannot get hold of a rental car. It's accessible via the JR line from the New Chitose Airport, which makes this place a good stopping point for a bit of nature and culture. I stayed for 2 nights, and could have stayed longer while enjoying the changing season.

Kutchan is a delightful town that offers the perfect mix of adventure, culture, and local flavor. Nestled near the base of Mount Yōtei, the scenery is absolutely breathtaking year-round — we are admiring snow-covered peaks. A unique highlight is Mishima’s Shibazakura Garden, where vibrant pink moss phlox blooms in spring with Mount Yōtei as a stunning backdrop. We drive around the mountain to get perfect views. As a group of food lovers will enjoy exploring local eateries offering everything from hearty ramen to Kutchan’s famous jaga-imo (potatoes). Don’t miss Tsubara Tsubara for a comforting bowl of soup curry. Kutchan is more than just a ski town—it's a year-round destination full of charm, flavor, and natural beauty. Highly recommended for travelers looking to experience authentic Hokkaido.
