Stayed here for 6 nights for a ski holiday and we had to change room half way through as I booked late and they were fully booked. Lovely staff they moved our stuff to the new room which meant we could go out for the day to enjoy skiing. Location isn't in the centre of town which wasn't a problem. There is a shuttle bus to the ski resorts, if you don't have a car. We did have a car which made it really easy. Onsen was lovely after a full day's of skiing. There was a ski rental shop opposite the hotel which was convent. We had breakfast and dinner included one of the waitresses called June was super friendly and very welcoming. Was a joy to see her everyday.

It’s clean, very well equipped with heater, cooking utensils. The owners are so nice and friendly. Language may be a barrier but they tried really hard to accommodate all our needs. The place is slightly secluded which is perfect for quiet vacation but you can still go to town centre by just taking 1 train to Karuizawa station and the owners are nice enough to drop and pick you!

My family and I went there to have a short vacation during our long weekend holiday. The surroundings were quiet and beautiful. I saw some deer during my morning walk in the forest. The skies looked amazing at night. If you are tired of the hustle and bustle in the city, it’s a great place to get yourself refreshed. Hope we have a chance to visit there again.

I wanted to share my delightful experience during my recent trip to the Nagano area. The journey on the Shinkansen train to Nagano was nothing short of comfortable and enjoyable, and the quick two-hour ride gave me a chance to unwind and take in the scenic views. Nagano is beautifully surrounded by alps and nature, offering a pleasant and peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. One of the highlights of my visit was exploring Zenko-Ji Temple, an ancient and culturally rich site. The area around the temple is dotted with charming small shops and restaurants, adding to the historic ambiance. I had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious and authentic lunch at Sugo Japanese Shojin Restaurant, where the food was simply incredible. Another unforgettable experience was visiting Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park, where I got to see the adorable snow monkeys in their natural habitat. If you ever find yourself in Nagano, I highly recommend the 1-Day Snow Monkeys, Zenko-Ji Temple, and Sake in Nagano Tour by Snow Monkey Resorts Tours (Machinovate Japan Ltd). The tour was fantastic and started right from Nagano Station, making it very convenient. Overall, Nagano is a great place to visit and unwind. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and can't wait to go back.

Staff in the reception is very helpful and willing to provide you all useful information about the status of all outdoor activities and scenic spots. And you can book subtle bus to reach all these places. Don't miss the coffee in the coffee bar as it reaches Barista-making level. The hot spring public bath on top floor has a genius source of it. Must try! There is a Lawson just located in the other side of the main road. You can buy some stuff with a very short walking distance. There are not so many restaurants operating during weekdays. I would prefer to walking to snow peak LAND STATION to have my meal. It takes 20 minutes to go there. The bus terminal is just next to the hotel. I found it very easy to leave for Nagano train station after checked out. Overall I will stay again next time when I'm back.

A nice and quiet city with a lot to offer. A good base for a day trip to Kamikochi which is a fantastic hiking place. Driving around the city is nice with alps on the backdrop. Matsumoto city alps park is a great place for activities and hangout. Tower of beauty has fantastic mountain views and panoramic scenery. Visit the wasabi farm for interesting and nice wasabi products. Last but not least, the beautiful Matsumoto castle, which will light up at night.

Karuizawa is our perfect place in Japan. Everytime we are in Tokyo, or near Tokyo, we make sure we stay at least a night here. Just walking along the old Nakasendo street is perfect for us. An old quiet town with the calmest vibe. Definitely, we will be back.

The monkeys are marvellous.

The monkeys are marvellous. Of course they are attracted to the valley by the food they receive regularly but they are totally free to come and go. So entertaining and endearing to observe how they interact. The park was created in 1964. Beautiful forest in a mountainous area that grows apples, peaches and grapes and lots of vegetables. Pay attention to the hotel you choose. Avoid Hotel Housei.

Nozawa is honestly a hidden gem.

Nozawa is honestly a hidden gem. Don’t go there if you want to be partying in a club on the mountain.. go there if you want to experience some of the best terrain, a basically untouched cultural town with authentic food, and a general sense of warmth. Still worth visiting if you’re not skiing or snowboarding though, the winter streetscapes and views are breathtaking.

Well, this Japanese resort had the edge on the European Alps for snow this Christmas (despite early snow in the Alps). The resort runs were bare when we got there but conditions at altitude were very good, and enhanced by a massive dump of snow mid-week. There are plenty of Onsen bathing options - perfect for relaxing Apres ski and whether public or private they cost very little - I wish I could have visited more of them! Snow monkeys climbing the pylons in Happo-One a definite highlight!
