During our recent four-night stay at Hotel Indigo Nagasaki Glover Street, we were thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service and amenities. Front desk manager Daesan Hong is an absolute gem, he speaks excellent English and provided us with invaluable recommendations and assistance throughout our visit. He went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The entire staff was outstanding—welcoming, professional, and always ready to help—which truly made our stay special. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, blending historical charm with modern comfort. As you arrive, it looks like you're driving into a stunning movie set. Such elegant decor was also chosen for the lobby and common areas. Our room was spotless, with a comfortable bed, large bathroom and an amazing view. Every detail was thoughtfully curated, making for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. I especially enjoyed the generous number of pillows (four) on each bed.  One of the highlights was dining at the restaurant for lunch. The dining room is so beautiful with stained glass windows and the food was simply delicious—we especially enjoyed the burger and grilled chicken, both prepared with fresh local ingredients. While the views and design were spectacular, it was the incredible staff that truly made this hotel a great place to stay. We highly recommend Hotel Indigo Nagasaki Glover Street to anyone looking for top-notch hospitality in Nagasaki. We would love to stay here again!

The staff were fantastic. Amila looked after us so well the whole time and really made us feel cared for and made our stay. Our honeymoon was perfect and so glad we chose Goto Ray Retreat. The team even wrote us a personal congratulations and welcome card for us on arrival! Chef Ko Takahira is a real artist and his food was amazing. He sources fresh fish from the market himself daily which really speaks to the quality of his dishes. We would definitely stay again. Shame we couldn't stay longer. Thank you so much Amila and staff! :)

We were able to leave our luggage overnight during our 1-night visit to the Goto Islands. Both rooms we stayed in, one on 8th (near elevator) and the other on 3rd (far from elevator), were quiet. We couldn't even hear toilets flushing in adjoining rooms. Room design was excellent for 2 people, better and slightly bigger than similar rooms in other hotels we have stayed in in Japan. Cleaner than similar Japanese hotels we have stayed at. All toiletries provided; also pajamas. Fresh towels, bottled water, drip coffee packets provided daily through simple notification next to door. Though we didn't use them, the presence of clothes washers on the 11th floor was a comfort. Washers and soap apparently free while dryers had a fee. LOCATION is convenient to train station and just one short block from Airport bus stop. Interesting feature in elevator: an emergency kit in case one is trapped, including a toilet, water, and flashlight.

The location is excellent, Shinchi Chinatown is close to most of the tourist spots in Nagasaki and the hotel itself is only a 4 min to the tram station. The room was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The lighting and climate control systems were modern and convenient. I enjoyed the rooftop spa, which definitely sets this hotel apart from other similarly priced places.

Loved everything about it! The location is perfect, right in the middle of everything , with entrance from a big roofed shopping street. Spacious room. Clean. Comfortable bed, bathroom with tub. Would absolutely stay there again!! It's a short walking distance to several temples and shrines, to the Oura church and Glover garden, and not to forget the river with beautiful bridges, kois, birds and turtles, it is the perfect place for a morning stroll, taking the steps down to the water and walk along the river. The tramway has a stop right outside and it takes you everywhere worth going.

We had a tatami family room with view over Nagasaki. We loved hearing the cicadas sing outdoors and the staff was extremely friendly. Breakfast was japanese with a few European options, which we didn't mind (the curry was amazing) but might be a consideration for picky eaters. We've been touring Japan for 4 weeks and these beds were by far the most comfortable.

Price quality, amazing onsen experience with tons of food in the morning and evening. The bath is very nice and is large! For the price this might be one of the better stays in Nagasaki. But only if you have a car rental. If the dinner is to expensive, only take the breakfast. It is a wide variaty of food. The pictures shown on the page are for the dinner.

The time when we went to the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb site was probably not the best time as there seemed to have been at least one cruise ship full of tourists that were in a hurry to see the museum and the site nearest the blast. In addition there were bus loads of students that were also visiting the museum. Hence the museum was really packed and the guests were almost being hurried along just so the queue to enter will not become too long. In this manner, we were not able to see all of the exhibits in the museum nor were we able to linger around the more interesting ones as well. The park was huge but was still filled up with tourists and students. We were still able to enjoy the sculptures that were donated by different countries. These did not, however, prevent one from feeling the enormity of the effect of the bomb.

Really great seaside town with a large American influence due to the military base in town. The food was great and the night scene lovely as well, though I wish I had more time to visit the Bio Park - will plan to go next time! Haus Ten Bosch was a really unique experience and I'm glad I went!

We got one day pass for the buses. It was so easy and very convenient to go and see places. We explore the city by changing the buses. The places of interest were in walking distance from the bus stops; Peace Park, Urakami Catholic Church, Basilica OURA ( UNESCO ), Glover garden, Megane Bridge and much more. With the City bus you can not go outside the city.

Sasebo is a good staging point for Catholic pilgrimage trips. We went to Hirado, Ikitsuki, and Kuroshima from here. The ferry options to the Goto Archipelago are limited here; Would try to go from Nagasaki if given the chance again. Sasebo is very westernized and their specialty dishes are steak and hamburgers. There are shopping arcades you can go and visit.

I think the most outstanding quality of this hotel was the service of the staff. They arranged for us to have a driver for an entire day to discover the island and its history. The driver was a local man who was very familiar with the interesting history of the island and answered all of our many questions. This is not to detract from an absolutely spectacular room with a window wall view of the ocean and the small islands in the distance. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and these meals were excellent.

Enjoyed the countryside scenery and driving without toll ways made it more interesting but longer. Get use to paid parking everywhere which is not expensive and ensure you have data roaming for gps. Driving is a breeze, 40klm speed limit max 80klm on expressway. Locals are courteous drivers and stickers for road rules. Google translate for help at petrol stations and elsewhere is ideal.

Sasebo is a hidden gem, perfect for those who enjoy a quieter lifestyle and want to avoid the crowds of more tourist-heavy destinations in Japan. With its laid-back vibe and scenic spots like Huis Ten Bosch, the Sea Aquarium, and the stunning Kujukushima (99 Islands), it offers a peaceful retreat without sacrificing things to see and do. The city also boasts delicious food, including Michelin-starred Champon at the train station and famous local burgers. Sasebo, as the base of the US Army, offers a unique mix of cultural and culinary experiences, making it a great choice for a slower-paced, yet rewarding, getaway. That said, I wish there were more quality hotels in Sasebo, as the available apartment and Airbnb options are quite limited and overpriced.
