Too many things to likes 1. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, very respectful 2. The food is great, we had food prepared for dinner and breakfast for 2 days ! They explained the food to us. 3. The facilities - the resort is great ! everything is explained and it is free. Please take the time to explore ! 4.     Everything was amazing! To start, the staff were friendly, professional, and helpful. The room was lovely and cosy with a beautiful river view as promised (during snow season this was especially impressive). It was nice to walk around the facilities comfortably in the provided yukata (Japanese loungewear). The included dinner and breakfast were delicious, nutritious, and generous (both were all-you-can-eat buffet style). Booking for the private onsen and other activities was easy from the front desk. The private onsen was incredible and just a short walk from the hotel. It's set in individual huts where two of the walls can be fully opened to the outside, in case you want the outdoor onsen experience. Late night table tennis back at the hotel was fun! The public onsen (within the hotel building) also had a beautiful view. Don't worry about setting up your futon bedding - the staff will have that ready for you when you come back from dinner :) It's worth arriving early (at check-in time) and taking advantage of all that this hotel has to offer.

    We had an amazing experience at Shikisai hotel. The hotel is beautiful and perfect for calm and relaxing stay. The view from the room and from the dining room is really nice, the hotel is surrounded by the forest and the lake is just 5 minutes away. The food is delicious, Kaiseki dinner was amazing. The onsen is great, and we loved that it is open during the whole night. Free drinks are served during the day (including beer and sake and very good coffee), so it was a pleasant surprise for us. The hotel is situated in calm Okunikko area, and there are many interesting sights around - waterfalls, shrines, embassy villas turned into museums. You can reach most of the sights by bus, but it would be more convenient by car.

    Best hotel I stayed in my trip to Japan. Incredible. Very spacious and comfortable. Super clean. Big place that even has simple, but cool night entertainment. The dinner buffet was some of the best meals we had in Japan, great quality. Samegoes for breakfast. The onsen was also the best we stayed in Japan, with 5 pools. You have a river with a waterfall from the balcony of your room. Leave the window slighty open to sleep to the sound of it. Guests wear yukata and kimono at all times. Full of japanese people, not many foreign tourists. Great experience.

    Both the dinner and the breakfast buffet were excellent, with a large variety of dishes being served, and always getting refilled. Smiling staff clearing away empty plates, and letting everyone know when the kitchen will be closing so that you don't miss anything. Multiple onsens on site, with both indoor and outdoor baths available. Everything was very clean. Staff went above and beyond when the wife forgot her phone charger in the room. Mailing it on to our next hotel in Osaka for us, we can't thank you enough.

    The room is a Tatami style Japanese room, it is quite spacious and clean, the in-house bath is very nice and clean, there is plenty of selection of hair shampoo and cleaning supplements provided and in very good quality, so is the public onsen spa. We had both our dinner and breakfast included in form of buffer, the dinner is a particularly grand feast with unlimited crab legs, beef and oyster rice bot provided, there is also free shuttle bus that the reception can arrange.

    We walked to the Togoshu Shrine; make sure you're prepared for uphill walks and a lot of stairs. The Main Street leading to the shrine was amazing. A ton of food vendors and restaurants. We took the bus to Kegon Falls. The ride was spectacular through the mountains and the village at the top was a pleasant surprise.

    We liked the room it was quite spacious. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was an easy bus ride from the main station and there were many restaurants nearby. The breakfast offered a lot options both Japanese and Western. The staff were very helpful finding some bus information and lending us umbrellas and adaptors.

    Nasu is well known and loved by Japanese people.

    Nasu is well known and loved by Japanese people. The Emperor has a summer house here as it tends to be cooler in summer. It’s little known by westerners and therefore is not catered to westerners. Parts of Nasu are very beautiful and other parts are set up for families - eg the zoo and the Dairy farm. There are some lovely restaurants and places to visit here but you really need a car to do it.

    The best thing about Nasushiobara is the hot springs. It has the Shiobara hot spring village, which has a rich spring quality and has been loved by royalty and literary masters. You can enjoy the traditional hot springs surrounded by nature in spite of the easy access from Tokyo on the Tohoku Shinkansen, which is just an hour away from Tokyo. Each hot spring in the city is different in scale and taste, but it is an adult resort where you can spend your luxurious time by soaking in the hot spring to your heart’s content.

    Touristy, somewhat charmless town that is nevertheless worth it for the magnificent shrines (Shinto, and the resting places of the first and third shoguns) and temples (Buddhist) and the museum (splurge on the museum! Seriously). Many people go to see these buildings + the red bridge (which is merely fine - short and not really noteworthy), but don't venture to the outskirts of Nikko to take in the other sites (Kanmangafuchi Abyss, Botanical Garden, Tamozawa Imperial Villa and much more impressive Nikko Dainichi Bridge).

    The Nasu Kaido is a famous and really scenic road that goes from the lowlands of Nasu town all the way up to the Nasu mountains, and it's beautiful to drive up - if you have a car. The road is a two lane highway that (in Summer) is very busy and not intended for bicycle or pedestrian use when you get to the uphill portions of the road, so be sure to use a vehicle or public transportation if you want to go further up it. The public transportation options are present - you can take the Shinkansen to NasuShiobara Station, then take the bus to the Nasu Mountain Ropeway, then take the ropeway to the near top of one of the mountain peaks and hike from there. It's a good venture, though if you try it on the weekend, be sure to check when the last buses operate, or else you might have to take a taxi.

    I highly recommend trying some unusual gyoza. Also get out to Ohya! The museum, the cafes, Tagefudousan... It is better to have a car to get to the beautiful spots on the outskirts of town like onsens.
