The location is amazing, you have your own private access to a beach, you can hear the ocean from your room, great food with lots of options, and friendly/kind staff, the room was so peaceful, great size with four poster beds and a walk in shower, it's a beautifully made Cabana, top tip, go in February for off season to enjoy complete quiet/chilled time and avoid swathes of other tourists

We felt like home, everything is made for you to feel good, the pool is amazing, bungalows are super comfy, restaurant is really good (even the European food but also the local food not to spicy l, you can ask on demand), owners really helpful, friendly, here for you and the staff is joyful and super friendly to ! The staff were amazing! They were really nice and applied to all of our requests. The hotel is in a great location, with yoga classes (for extra charge) and the room was big and comfortable. We had a great stay. The air conditioning is great and new. We would definitely choose it again on our next visit. Highly recommend!

Located near the bay, and main street however in quiet area. The facility is new, rooms are nice, bed comfy and bath clean. Outside, there is a patio where you can relax. There was also fridge freezer and small kitchen available. Great place.

The hotel is absolutely new. Our room was spacious, fresh, and very clean, with a nice and well-maintained bathroom. If I ever visit Arugam Bay again, I would definitely stay here again — out of all the hotels in this price range, this one is the best! The hotel is run by a very polite and kind family who made us feel welcome. The location was excellent — on the main road, within walking distance to cafes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and just a 10-minute tuk-tuk ride to the beach, but you can also walk to it (20 minutes) It was quiet at night, and we had a very peaceful stay. There’s also a lake next to the hotel, where elephants sometimes come to drink — a beautiful sight to witness. All guest rooms are located on the second floor. They also plan to open a restaurant soon on the ground floor.

We spent two weeks at Paper Moon and would like to share the following: LOCATION & ACCOMODATION Located directly next to Whisky Point Beach, this beautiful resort offers a very comfortable accomodation for travelers, who don’t want to stay in the center of Arugam Bay with all its bars, restaurants and busy tourist areas. Yes, there are not as many restaurant options in the area as in Arugam Bay and you may have to take a TukTuk to town if you wish to have that. The rooms are reasonably sized, comfortable, airconditioned and offer a very large bathroom. The surrounding area is peaceful and quiet. WIFI is fast and works in most areas. The pool area lies next to the beach, with enough shady spots under the palm trees to relax on one of the sunbeds. The closest surf spot is Pottuvil point, about a 15 minute walk on the beach. STAFF & SERVICE The whole staff of the resort is kind, very attentive, always friedly and available at any time. The resort team make sure that you feel well and cared for 24 hours a day. We never received a “no“ to any of our requests. Whether you need your laundry done, any extras for your room or a TukTuk-ride to Arugam Bay - Raja and his team will take care of it. HYGIENE & CLEANING The rooms were clean and well prepared upon arrival. Towels and bedsheets are changed every 5 days or upon request. Room cleaning also takes place every 5 days or upon request. Yes, you will find the occational bug or gecko in your room - you are staying in a very natural area of Sri Lanka (you may even see elephants in the area). Yes, you will encounter some crows or stray dogs in the restaurant & pool area - it is simply part of living in such an area. If you‘re looking for a luxurious 5-Star experience with daily room service and without having to lift a finger - you may want to book somewhere else. FOOD The restaurant offers good local food as well as some „western“ options.

We had a fantastic stay at Aprota Villas during our recent trip to Arugam Bay. From start to finish, our experience was exceptional. We stayed in a spacious and beautifully designed Chalet that was both elegant and comfortable. The excellent service was complemented by quality food, which was a highlight of our stay. Priyantha and his team were excellent in providing an exceptional service. We relied on the WiFi throughout our stay and were impressed by how fast and consistent it was from all areas of the property. The property itself is stunning—a true beachfront haven with gorgeous main swimming pool set within lovely, manicured gardens. It’s the ideal choice for anyone seeking a luxurious and peaceful holiday in a breathtaking environment in Arugam Bay. We cannot recommend Aprota Villas highly enough!

My days in Augam Bay at Surf Beach Hotel made most of my Sri Lankan journey: the owners (Deen and family), accomodation closed to the sea, surf classes with Deen and his staff, local people, sea and jungle, wonderful spot.. They all stole my heart. I spent more days than it was expected in Arugam Bay, surely because of the lovely atmosphere of this guest house, able to connect you immediately with the local life and people. Nice rooms, very clean and quiet in the night. If you need something (advices on food/places, laundry, surf/yoga/whatever classes, nightlife, chilling,..) just ask Deen and he will surely help you as much as possible, making you feeling like home. Thank you for the lovely time, looking forward to be back at your place soon!

Comfortable bed, very big bathroom, good AC, with balcony. The room has everything I needed and was clean. It's very quiet, no noise from the street in the room, but still located at the main street and close to the beach, just a short walk! The hotel has a restaurant so it's possible to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner there. The breakfast is amazing, I especially like that I got a different breakfast every day and the portions are big. The staff is very nice. The owner is very kind and helped me with everything, I felt home here and ended up staying for a long time. I totally recommend this hotel, for short or long stays.

After almost 15 days in Sri Lanka, we stayed in JetWing Surf in a beachfront hut {No 18} and we had a great time. The hut was clean, the mosquito nets were large enough to be effective {a notable difference from other places we've stayed} and we had no issue with bugs. The staff was very attentive especially when we had an early morning safari planned. Our driver came to pick us up at 5:00 AM, and Pawan, our concierge, was there and thoughtfully provided us with a mini-fridge stocked with fresh juices and a basket of breakfast items to take along. Christmas dinner at the hotel was also exceptional.

We loved our stay at this beautiful beach house, surrounded by beaches. It was so quiet there. We had the best walks and sunsets at the beach. Breakfast and dinner was very good. They even provided us with a breakfast bag to take with us when leaving for a safari at 4.45am. And laundry was done too (and it was never that clean and smelled so good on our trip. Staff was great. Thank you so much, would love to come back!

You are more likely to meet a European than a local here.

You are more likely to meet a European than a local here. This is definately not a reflection on Sri Lankan culture, however the beach town is slow and quiet (realtively speaking) and there are plenty of shops and restaurants. And of coure, the surf is consistent and the water warm. It's a winner for a beach holiday.

The best feature of Arugam Bay is the surrounding jungle, lakes and lagoons. The main beach is very busy but other beaches, such as Peanut Farm are less crowded, Do thye Lagoon Safari and a park safari but also try surfing and relaxing on the beach.
