The hotel is new, so the room was very nice and clean. There is a terrace with a beautiful view of Lion’s Rock, where a tasty breakfast is served. The location is perfect, there are many restaurants nearby, and it’s quite close to the entrance to Lion’s Rock. The staff were very friendly and arranged a tuk-tuk for us early in the morning, as we wanted to climb Pidurangala Rock for the sunrise.

The place is very new and that is noticeable in all the details. Very spacious rooms, the AC is a blessing during hot days, the pool is new and well kept. Not to mention the location (only 5 min drive to Sigiriya). The owner is very helpful and open to feedback, he is truly interested in the guests' having a great experience. He offered us valuable suggestions for when to visit Sigiriya & Pidurangala, and he was absolutely right, so do listen to him 😁👌. The breakfast was rich and delicious on both days. The staff was attentive, so overall we had a wonderful stay. Definitely recommend!

He helped us plan our days, suggested things to do, arranged everything we needed, and was always checking in to make sure we were having the best possible stay. His dedication and patience made our trip effortless. But it wasn’t just them — every single staff member we met was phenomenal. The housekeeping team, the restaurant staff, the front office, and everyone behind the scenes — every one of them greeted us with a smile, asked how our day was going, and made us feel like valued guests. Their warmth was so genuine, and it was clear they take real pride in their work. The villa itself was stunning — beautifully designed, spotless, and peaceful — but it was the people who made the experience truly special. We spent the first two nights of our holiday to Sri Lanka and it was a incredible start. We received a warm welcome, with a welcome drink, flowers, snacks and a cold towel. The incredible service continued for the rest of the stay, Upali who looked after us was a credit to the hotel. The food in the restaurant, as well as the cocktails in the bar were fantastic. The rice and curry was one of the best we have had in our whole holiday. The location is perfect for visiting the Sigiriya attractions, and tuk tuks can be arranged to take you wherever needed. The paddy dwelling was incredibly peaceful and equipped with everything needed for your stay. We also enjoyed walking around the hotel grounds and visiting their farm, as well as watching the local wildlife including wondeful bird life and monkeys.

This hotel should be a top choice for anyone staying in Sigiriya. Besides being in a great location, it offers an outstanding level of service and amazing value. The staff could not be more helpful and accommodating. The housekeeping & restaurant staff, in particular, were helpful in so many ways. The hotel itself is lovely, with a very relaxed vibe. The buffet breakfast that is included offers a huge variety of options. We stayed for one night in a lovely room. We will return for another 2 nights soon.

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but...

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but purely for the iconic Sigiriya Rock—and it was absolutely worth it. The experience was incredible, with stunning views from the top. My friends and I climbed up for sunrise, which I highly recommend as the best time to go. Just be prepared: there are a lot of stairs—some carved directly into the rock, others metal and uneven. We visited in November just after the monsoon, so it was warm and the climb had us sweating buckets. If you plan on taking those perfect social-media photos, bring a spare T-shirt… or do what I did and let AI handle the magic! Although the ascent was tough and left us literally out of breath, the moment we reached the top made it all worth it. The views were truly breathtaking—quite fitting, since the climb already took my breath away.

A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree...

A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree view points. But if it rains it will ruin your plans. So make sure you depend on weatherly and visit Matale when it shows many continuous sunny days. Even on cloudy forecasts do not visit as all mointain tops then will be covered and you will not see the sights. when it is humid leaches also will be active and will become a painful experience.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed for two nights in the end as we got to sigiriya late. This meant we ate dinner one night at the little hut which wass great, climbed the rock, then moved on to the habarana which was also interesting to wander and eat.

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from...

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from Adam's Peak!) but instead chose the much shorter Pidurangala which afforded a fabulous view of Sigiriya. Highly recommended. A visit to the Bawa hotel, Heritance Kandalama, is well worth it as an insight into the brilliant architectural mind of Geoffrey Bawa.

Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale. As I just stayed one day which was not sufficient to visit all the places. Among them where I went were also hampered due to the rain at time to time. Generally Matele was quit good tourist destination if it is planned well with couple of days.

The weather is very calm.

The weather is very calm. Recommended time to start climb is 5.45 AM. So worthy to watch the surroundings from top of the Sigiriya. You can learn a lot about Sigiriya. You can get a guide if you want from the entrance.

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy,...

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya. We stayed there for 4 Nights and could cover the heritage sites easily. Dambulla Caves are a must-see and so is Sigiriya (just 16 Kms. away). Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are around an hours drive but Dambulla is much well-connected and less touristy.
