This was one of our favourite stays on our Norway road trip. The feel of the hotel is "old fashioned" but just lovely. And the view from our room was just stunning. We also loved our evening meal and walk around the grounds. It's not a 5* chain hotel but we loved the more personal feel about it.

One of the best views in the world from our room and i am not exaggerating. The staff were so welcoming and the food was beautiful. It is a small boutique hotel which cant be seen from the village, but is only a short walk around to the next alcove ( 5 mins along boardwalk), This also makes it very private and away from the "umbrella tours".

The hotel is situated in a tiny picturesque village from the late 19th century by the Luster fjord, overlooking a fantastic view. It has Norway’s best breakfast with everything you may wish, and fantastic service. For extra luxury, enjoy a wonderful 4-course dinner prepared by some of our best chefs, followed by a drink and coffee in the garden. We stayed in one of the modern rooms, which has plenty of space and a nice porch on the lawn to enjoy the morning sun. My recent stay at Best Western Laegreid Hotell was a delightful experience overall. The hotel's exceptional cleanliness, from the lobby to our hotel room, provided a comforting sense of hygiene throughout our stay. The American-style interior design added an elegant and sophisticated touch to the hotel. The tastefully done decor created a pleasant ambiance that made us feel right at home, surpassing the typical hotel aesthetics. One of the highlights of our stay was the extensive breakfast offered by the hotel. The wide array of options catered to various tastes and dietary preferences, with something for everyone. The food's excellent quality, variety, and freshness impressed us. We were pleasantly surprised by the presence of USB-A and USB-C ports next to the bed, making it incredibly convenient to charge our electronic devices without adapters or searching for outlets. Such thoughtful details showcased the hotel's commitment to a comfortable and modern stay. Moreover, there is free parking in front of the hotel from 17:00 until 8:00, adding to the convenience and value of the stay. Overall, Best Western Laegreid Hotell exceeded our expectations, with its cleanliness, stylish interior design, extensive breakfast options, and convenient amenities. We would gladly choose this hotel again in the future. For a well-maintained hotel with a touch of American flair, this is an excellent choice.

The location was ideal as I could walk to the hospital where spouse was for emergency surgery, and felt my teens were safe in the cabin. Was able to book on extremely short notice and the lady at front desk was very kind and supplied quality linen for the well outfitted unit. Kitchen had everything we needed, including a very large fridge. The price was value for money and the Extra store was a very short walk. So glad we could stay here, it really saved our bacon when we found ourselves in a somewhat nebulous situation. Shout out for the hospital which provided great care and ...hospitality!

There was chance to warm up room with radiator and additionally in the bathroom is heated floor. It is in the case when it is raining. All the kitchen equipment needed to prepare a meal, tea, coffee (I was there at the end of April 2025, before breakfast was served and weather still was cold). Soft bed, stylish lightning in the room, which can be regulated. Free Wi-Fi. Parking almost near the doors or little bit down. This parking down is quite big. Easy to get key with PIN from email. Easy to leave the key in "check-out" box after.

A quiet village nestled at the head of a beautiful fiord with towering mountains all around. Excellent facilities including a bakery, grocery store, Mall of Norway and several restaurants, plus fast food outlets. Mini cruises available to nearby attractions, kayaks for hire and lakeside saunas. The most notable attraction is the world famous Flam Railway which climbs to almost 3000 feet a.s.l. up to Myrdal, where it connects to the Oslo to Bergen line.

Aurland is a quiet town with a well-stocked grocery and an excellent bakery. It is not a port of call for the huge Sognefjord cruise ships, so it is not overrun by tourists multiple times a day. By car, the town is 20 minutes from Flåm, 35 minutes from Lærdal via the Lærdalstunnelen (the world's longest road tunnel, at almost 25km), and 2.5 hours from Bergen. A refueling station is located just south of town, off the E-16 roundabout. It offers reasonable prices for electric vehicle charging and petrol/diesel fuel. And, it serves the best homemade soup in the area!

We had booked the Norway in a Nutshell route from Oslo to Bergen and our friends had recommended we break up the journey and stay the night in Gudvangen and I am so glad we did! It was the most beautiful town right in the heart of a fjord - the views were breathtaking and as not many people stayed the night like we did, we felt like we had the place to ourselves. We didn't stay long enough to participate in any of the activities offered the next morning (kayaking, hiking or a visit to the viking museum) but I don't think you need to stay any longer than two nights. I highly recommend that you stay at least one night in Gudvangen if you are travelling through it

Flam is a very small village with lots of tourist. It is a beautiful place, don't get me wrong. I think the Nærøyfjord cruise was the best one, compared to Hardanger Fjord and Lysefjord. Unfortunately, it was super windy and rainy so we had to turn around half way through the cruise and couldn't do much of other activities as some of them had to be cancelled.

Its a place which has lots of amazing things to do, every corner has a picture perfect view. In the beginning you might feel that 2-3 days are enough but I think you at least need 5 days. Good place to stay, we went to flam and Odda. Going and coming back from Odda was little bit hectic because it was raining heavily, the roads are very small, there are some places where there is only one lane, no two vehicles will fit. so be careful at such road. The nature is amazing, flam station has good food stall, I guess all major street foods.

We stayed at this hotel for one night on our way to Geiranger. We booked a room with two queen beds for three people, but it was nothing like the pictures shown on the website. The room was dark, outdated, and extremely small. There wasn’t even enough space to open the luggage for three people. We paid almost $350 for one night, but it wasn’t even up to the standard of a one-star hotel. On the day of arrival, we received an email instructing us to pick up the key from a pizza shop next to the hotel instead of the reception, and we never saw anyone at the reception during our stay. The next day, we called the hotel several times to check out, but no one answered, and we never received a call back. I would absolutely not recommend this place.

Sogndal is a perfect home base if you want to spend a couple of days exploring the Sognefjord. It is the right size for walking around either day or night. People are very friendly and helpful. I don't think there was a launderette in town, that I remember, and that would have been helpful.
