Incredible place - a destination in and of itself. Booked and ate there as it was the only place available, but (as advertised) it's the most interesting place you'll ever stay, the food is good (and huge portions) and the surroundings are quiet and beautiful.

Amazing house, with everything you need to cook, and many games, books and puzzles to have a good time (and super comfy bed). Spacious living room and balcony to relax after hiking; hiking trails literally at your door steps, but also many others at short driving distances. Extremely friendly and helpful hosts. A little paradise, with great views!

This park was everything we hoped for when booking. Stacey was an absolute asset, she was so helpful, so kind and really cared about her guests! - The 40 minute waterfall walk was everything the kids dreamed of! Having a playground onsite for the kids was probably the biggest highlight. - The glow worms are all throughout the park we even had some on the bank behind our tent! - They have a very basic shop onsite as well which is awesome because there's always something that you forget! - I didn't use the laundry here although they do offer coin washing machines. The showers were cleaned daily, the lounge had plenty of space and you could cook in here and use the fridge/freezer.

A central location in Arthur’s Pass. Large comfortable room and well equipped communal kitchen and common room. Everything was spotlessly clean. Fellow travellers staying at the lodge were mature and respectful. The staff were welcoming and helpful.

This road trip was the most picturesque and unique of our 3 trips to new Zealand. The views of the snow capped mountains beside lakes and rivers, along with sheep and cattle grazing in green paddocks, along with pine forests made this a drive to remember. Vastle Hill/Kura Tawhiti Conservation area is worth a visit to walk around the limestone rock formations. The town itself is small but interesting. The walk to Devils Punchbowl is a must with the most stunning waterfall we have seen anywhere. The 800 or so steps are easily manageable unless you have bad hips or knees

Iconic historical building in an iconic location.

Iconic historical building in an iconic location. The rooms are furnished period appropriate, the restaurant contains a collection of historical curios. The couple running it is very friendly and approachable. The food is hearty kiwi home style cooking.

Very relaxing area with many outdoor activities to do.

Very relaxing area with many outdoor activities to do. Great for families to walk around Castle Hill around the rock formations or fishing along the rivers and plenty of different walks around the amazing areas. There were mountain biking trails up Porters with the team at Porter's lodge able to drive you back up to the top of the trails. Definitely keen to get back over to explore some more.

Beautiful scenic retreat, with waterfall and true NZ country vibe. Unfortunately, I saw the host yelling at a guest who arrived at night, for asking where the kitchen was located. I felt surprised, because the host was polite to me. I would still recommend that you stay here, but maybe just read the provided map if you're arriving at night!

It's a while since I had last stayed in the village which was magical in the winter sun. I loved exploring all the historic sites as well as places I was familiar with from my childhood. I walked the length of the village and then followed the Arthur's Pass Track to Jack's Hut and then into the Bealey Valley. There are plenty of walking tracks to choose from depending on how long you want to walk. There were fewer birds in the bush than I would have liked. The cafes were good and I could have joined a church service as well!

Very warm welcome from owner. A roaring fire, owner who made us dinner. The room was fab, a bed to die for. Clean ensuite bathroom with a sweet shower. Our own private lounge with massage chair and large screen TV. Tea and coffee provided. A wonderful place to stay.

As stated before have to tick above boxes to complete the survey even though we didn’t stay. I tried replying to your email but it was returned undeliverable. Jackson’s Retreat is a tranquil motor camp set in beautiful bush but people need to know the distance from nearest food facilities and there is no cell phone cover.

Spend at least 2 days there.

Spend at least 2 days there. We spent one night but could have spent 4-6 days based on the number of short hikes to be done there. Visit the NP office first to help decide what to do with your time. Very scenic and the tiny village has 2 cafes and a small store. Bring your own foods and supplies.

Great for Railfans.

Great for Railfans. Trains can be heard close by in the night. Could hear falling water and night birds. Guests have a separate lounge for tea and coffee making. There are a lot of antique and old world features and displays here. All in all, a comfortable place to stay, considering it is in the middle of nowhere. Great Hikes can be had as well.
