Although in general we have high requirements as guests, the drifter was the best hostel ever for us until now. The location is very convenient, walking distance to the centre. There are many places for socializing and good vibes. Even the kitchen, which is really busy sometimes, helps bringing people closer. Painting and free yoga courses are "plus".

1. The bed & pillows was exceptional comfortable. 2. The additional sink and tap together with a microoven in the room itsef (outside the toilet & shower) make it practical and convenient for making our hot drinks and getting our water supply. 3. Individual AC in good working condition which we can control the temperature in the room! 4. Strong shower and quality shower gel and body lotion. 5. The design of the toilet allows me to put my toiletries and make up easily. 6. Room service - food available even early in the morning at 2 AM! Order is just at your finger tip via the hotel's tablet. 7. The hotel restaurant food was so delicious and reasonably price! 8. All reception Staff was courteous, reliable and helpful (especiallly Natasha) who helped booked local Tours and Taxi. The recommendation to take bus to Gondola and sea side at New Brighton were wonderful. The bus stop is just 2 to 3 minutes away from the hotel.

A truly special spot. After a busy few days in NZ we loved having this little haven to relax. The wine was exceptional and a lovely little extra and the outdoor bath was the perfect way to wind down and listen to nothing but bird song. Only a short drive to great food spots or Uber eats delivers!

We were here at the end of our long trip, and spent New Year's Eve at Hagley park for the celebrations the bands and the fireworks. The children loved the play park by the river. The city was very clean and tidy and despite being there over new year, most shops and restaurants were open for business

Methven is a little gem of a town set in stunning...

Methven is a little gem of a town set in stunning surroundings with plenty on offer in both summer and winter. The Opuke thermal pools are a must do and have previously done the hot air ballooning which is a definite highlight of the area. There's a good selection of eating options for both day and night. We ate at Baileys Irish pub and loved the food. Methven is a great option for a weekend getaway from Christchurch without having to go too far to enjoy some R&R.

Springfield is only an hour from Christchurch yet so close...

Springfield is only an hour from Christchurch yet so close to great scenery for drives and many sporting activities including Mt Hutt Ski Fields plus others. Arthur's Pass is a fabulous drive, Rakaia Gorge is beautiful, the drive to Coleridge Power Station, at the back of Mt Hutt is very scenic. The town of Methven is not far away. And there is so much more to see. Springfield is a fabulous base for so much to do and see!

Luxurious and welcoming.

Luxurious and welcoming. The restaurant at Terrace Downs was exceptional. Highly recommend the Mt Cook Salmon main. Extensive wine selection and great service. Would love to have stayed longer as there is so many exciting activities to choose from.

On our way back home to Queenstown, my husband was so tired...

On our way back home to Queenstown, my husband was so tired so we decided to do a last minute booking, was only one room left and we were lucky to get it. The property manager was so kind and very helpful, room was great all we needed a great bed and easy location to drive out. I really like kaiapoi and I would like to stay there but...

I really like kaiapoi and I would like to stay there but would definitely stay in another motel I found everyone friendly and found some good Cafés at night I were at the speedway at Woodfordglen that was the reason I stayed in kaiapoi because it was close to the speedway track.

We chose Darfield because we were doing some research nearby. Darfield is perfectly located to find agricultural supplies and outdoor clothing which we needed. Darfield, just 35km from Christchurch, links all routes also to.the south and west and north. Like many south island small towns, Darfield has a sense of civic pride and is easy to navigate around or through.
