- From $121.91 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.7Good - What previous guests thought, 766 reviewsRoom was generously sized and we had a great balcony out the back with seating, where we could watch the bowls club. Shower was powerful and surprisingly hot! Well appointed kitchenette (toaster, microwave, kettle and all cutlery & crockery), which was useful during our stay over New Year and we really only had supermarkets as options for food.Guest review byCraig&SarahNew Zealand
- From $82.07 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very Good - What previous guests thought, 1,110 reviewsLoved that the staff were quick thinking enough to leave our room keys in an envelope outside the office to allow us to check in late. This was really kind of them and I highly recommend Ahuriri solely based on this experience. The room itself was clean and perfect for one night's stay.Guest review byAdityaUnited States

I loved the Victorian quarter and the Steam Punk museum.
I loved the Victorian quarter and the Steam Punk museum. But my favorite was seeing the blue penguins arriving on the shore at the Penguin Sanctuary at the end of the wharf. Totally worth paying for premium seats.Guest review byJanineNew Zealand - 10.0

We lived in Omarama approximately 30 years ago. It was lovely to see the progress in the town. There is plenty of places to eat out and all of them offer a good range of food, with friendly efficient staff.Guest review byHeatherNew Zealand - 10.0

A discovery really, as it was the most convenient place for a break in our journey but what a wonderful central location it turned out to be to see many surrounding wonders. Each season would have its own reasons for spending time here, which is exactly what I now intend to do.Guest review byArendNew Zealand - 10.0

It's a very special place to have crayfish and fresh fish at the Fish Wife. It's the only reason we travel and stay at Moeraki. Absolutely loving it. The Moeraki Tavern is also another fantastic place to eat. I highly recommend both.Guest review bySofia DalyNew Zealand - 10.0

I liked exploring the river and would have fished if we had stayed. Food at the local pub was good, we didn't try the steaks. There are lots of families who go to Kurow camping for the water activities in the lakes. There is a newish wetland to explore, and others like to cycle the area. The penguins are 90 kilometers away there are a fossil attraction down the road.Guest review byJoyAustralia - 10.0
How tidy people's property's. Super friendly people.
How tidy people's property's. Super friendly people. Good food. Lovely works to the beach. Four square store well stocked, and easy to get around. Hampden pub was nice to eat and relax for the whole family. They have games for kids to play, pingpong, table tennis and fus ball. Will go back some day.Guest review byRickerbyNew Zealand - 10.0
I loved everything about Waianakarua.
I loved everything about Waianakarua. The scenery, energy, the big spacious outdoor space was beyond me. The room I stayed in was dry, warm & safe. The owners were lovely and accomodating checking up daily on us. It’s a great stay of a spot for individual travel, couple travelling & also for families. The main kitchen & lounge area was gorgeous & comfortable & I will be back definitely.Guest review byMafi - 10.0
We only stayed one night and did a whirwind tour.
We only stayed one night and did a whirwind tour. Steampunk to brewery to little blue penguins. Tees Street Cafe for breakfast and then we were off. I loved the quirkiness and historical charm and would like to go back. I think 2-3 nights would be more fun. Even 4 would be good. Everything close to each other though so still worth it for even 1 night. Magical!Guest review byTalchinsky - 10.0

Often overlooked as a passing point to more exotic destination, this little stop over town has a few worthy attractions; the Clay Cliffs, the Ahuriri River, the Hot tub and the Glider rides etc. It is also near Twizel and Lake Ohau too.Guest review byJeremyAustralia - 8.0

I didn’t see much of Otematata as I arrived late afternoon, had a meal and then retired to my room. The next day we drove on to Geraldine early morning. The countryside is interesting, the views superb, I love the McKenzie country and I’ll return for longer next time. I ate at the Best little pub and had a very good mealGuest review byMareeNew Zealand
