Staying in Koofan Heritage Lodge will take you back centuries as you will be immersed in Oman's authentic architecture, food and meet the friendly owner of the place and learn about the history of the place and about his ancestors. I highly recommend not only coming in for a visiting but staying here instead of a modern hotel to feel what the rich Oman's past has to offer. The Lodge houses a museum, and views over the old town of Taqa. The place is equipped with wifi, hot water and friendly customer service, hence you can enjoy all the comforts of the modern world, while enjoying an immersion into the past. This was the second time I stayed in Koofan Lodge, and will do so again if I visit Dhofar in the future.

We would like to mention two persons especially: Rasha on the frond desk. She is such a warmhearted and friendly person. We felt so well with her! And also the man who cleaned our room, Murad. ⭐ 10/10 – Exceeded expectations! Probably the best and only hostel I found in Salalah and it exceeded expectations. Excellent Omani hospitality, especially from Hashem, who took care of everything. A family-run accommodation in the best way possible; warm, welcoming, and effortless. Location is perfect: just a 5-minute walk from the central market and the Mwasalat bus station to Muscat. Nearby cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, ATMs, and local spots all around. There’s a small grocery shop in the same building, and they offer car rentals if you’re heading to explore the mountains or coast. Facilities are well-maintained; fully equipped kitchen, clean bathrooms, and common areas. They have storage space if you arrive early or check out late, and super flexible with check-in timing. In short, value for money, excellent location, and true Omani hospitality. This place is an exceptional base while in Salalah. Highly recommend for anyone exploring Dhofar as an independent traveler.

I liked everything . I am a regular guest of five star hotels and I stay most of the times in Anantara hotels . This hotel is by far has the best best customer service and experience from all Anantara hotels I have stayed ! All staff is so well trained , really polite and kind ! They upgraded and gave us a late check out since our flight was very late at night ! The food at the restaurants were great especially the Asian restaurant were for sure you have to taste ! The resort is really luxurious and you feel that you stay not in a five star but in a rather six star hotel . The infinity pool was great and the view from all the hotel to the sea really beautiful . The villa was spacious , luxury and really clean as well as the pool which was really large .

The breakfast was very decent. They kept changing the menu every day so we didn't had to eat same stuff every day. We had an executive suite with 2 rooms so the room was decent size with nice and comfy beds. Staff was friendly and the hotel was decently cleaned. The location of the hotel is pretty amazing and gives easy access to the main highways, nearby attractions and a lot of eating options. The AC and heater was working perfect. The whole concept of the „hotel“ was exactly what we wanted. Lovely people (Ibrahim and Ali just to name the two best) and beautiful lodges embedded in a fantastic nature. A very peaceful and quiet place ideal to relax and enjoy vacation. No need to go on a boat trip to watch dolphins - one can watch them from the beach or the terrace of the restaurant!

We got something like a separate small villa with our own terrace and it was really nice! The room itself was spacious and cozy, had everything required - bed, desk, fridge, chairs; bathroom had all amenities including toiletries and towels. From the terrace once could go to the hotel pool or to the beach.

Amazing place but better to visit during Khareef season (...

Amazing place but better to visit during Khareef season (July - Mid September). But it is very crowded, and all places and hotels are full and prices skyrocketing during the season. But you will see the green lush meadows, Clouds floating on hills, all the waterfalls running and Wadis full of water lakes. Depends on your preference but it will be crowded everywhere so keep in mind. Other option is to go in December/Jan when it is quiet, calm and very peaceful. You can visit all the beaches, spots and wadis without any crowd and mostly just to yourself. But there is no greenery during this time and clouds and waterfalls are gone. Weather is still good but not much green. It depends on your preferences.

Salalah and especially the surrounding mountains contain a unique environment with magical natural views. But, if you want to see the lush green landscapes and waterfalls, make sure to come in the correct monsoon season known as khareef, which is during the summer months. Once the rains stop, the waterfalls dry up and the lush greenery turns dry and yellow. I came in November, which is a perfect time for nature photography as there is no rain to damage the camera and nature is still very alive, but all waterfalls had already completely dried up and the lush greenery was gone. The region, like the entire country, is very safe, with friendly and helpful people.

the beaches are spectacular, the location is really perfect...

the beaches are spectacular, the location is really perfect if you look for a quite and familiar place. Everyone is friendly and helpful. the surrundings are stunning and the trip is aboslutely worth it. There are several resorts in the area but they are very decent and not invasive.

Beautiful City. Good for Pilgrimage also. People were helpful and friendly. Our hotel staff Mr. Rasal took us around in his car and also took us to local Restaurants to have authentic Omani Food and also local markets to but Omani Halwa and soverniers

I liked almost everything, it’s not overcrowded like other destinations in the Middle East. Loved the Geography, dramatic coast line, mountains, beautiful beaches, lush green areas in East and of course the desert. Would be a great area to hire a motor home to explore, think the region lends itself to this, I believe this would attract tourists! Maybe a weekly flight direct from London with Oman Air but at the same time would hate the country to be spoilt by tourism.
