Vale de Cocos is a modern, newly renovated apartment with all the amenities you need, including AC. Our apartment was very comfortable, away from the street and very quiet. There is a great outdoor space with pool, outdoor eating, lounge furniture and beautiful view of Mt. Pico. Everything was very clean and the pool and outdoor area was taken care of daily. It is located in a small village outside of Horta where you find a couple of small supermarkets and a bakery but otherwise there is not much there.

Nuno welcomed us very warmly, he showed us all the facilities in the house, and there was even a small welcome gift that made our early arrival better. The house is very well equipped, we even had barbecue and fireplace for us to use. We'll definitely come back to Casa do Capelo and we warmly recommend it to our friends.

The boulevard along the harbour offers beautiful views...
The boulevard along the harbour offers beautiful views towards Pico island. The town is rather small but offers all the basics. The people are are friendly. It's not so suitable for shopping and to really appreciate it you should walk around a lot and also explore the nature around the town. Public transport is available though rather limited.

My stay there was great, I especially appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of the host. The place is perfect if you have to catch a morning flight since it is just opposite the airport, also bus station is just across the street. However, it is not very easily accessible from Horta if you don't have your car; the public transport by bus is limited on weekends, even during the week the bus rides only few times a day, Besides one restaurant 1km away, there are also no other places to eat nearby. But the nature around is amazing and place is very nice, the rooms very comfortable and clean and breakfast is good.

Loved that the host provided some basic supplies - coffee, milk, fresh eggs, homemade jam, olive oil. The hot water was plentiful. It was great to have a washing machine. But the view is the best selling point!

A quaint little village with friendly local people. Very close to everything if you have a car. There is no restaurant in Ribeirinha but there is a pub to get sandwiches and drinks. There are many places nearby you can drive to.

Horta is a fabulous town, friendly people, nice restaurants and pedarias and shops in and around the Main Street
Our favorite place to eat was a fab resteraunt overlooking the ocean Praia do a Almoxarife. Lovely harbor with interesting paintings from passing sailors.
Porto Pim Beach close by.
Probably best to get a hire car to see all the lovely spots around the island (quite expensive) although the local buses are pretty good too. Plenty of walking/hiking trails especially the walk around the rim of Caldeira e Capelinhos. Lots of amazing view points and botanical gardens

We loved Varadouro.
We loved Varadouro. We stayed for 2 nights but could have stayed longer to relax by the pools and swimming inlet. These swimming areas are located amongst the volcanic rock and are just amazing.
The area is very relaxing, the sea could be heard from our accommodation. We had a hire car, which is needed as the area is remote.
There are a few restaurants and cafes nearby.

We went on a full day tour of Faial with Andre at Visitfaial. This let us see all the sites. Faial is a beautiful island and I wish we had more time there. Horta is more of a town than a city, size wise. It has a big marina and this was buzzing with lots to look at including some big yachts. There are some busy bars and restaurants which are fun to visit although we preferred the quieter ones in Porto Pim Bay Area. Genuino has lots of memorabilia from the owner’s sailing adventures. The tuna steaks were massive. We had a table upstairs at window with lovely views across the bay. Taberna de Pim was also good and we were able to eat outside on the bay.
