Great location, directly next to main road and 4min driving from Ponta Delgada city centre and same distance from airport, on the other hand super quiet with soundproof rooms to sleep well. Beautiful and best quality furniture in apartments. Staff and service was wonderful, nothing to add here :) Thanks to cat companion we fell at home. Location at the horse farm is great to be close to nature. Photos faithfully represent reality of Lusitano Garden Villas. From here you have everywhere close, including Sete Citades. Thank you for this stay and hospitality, we would like to come back if visit Azores again.

Great location in the main town street with restaurants, souvenir shops etc within reach. Ambience was amazing, something between an art gallery and a hotel. Very clean, the swimming pool and sauna were a pleasant touch. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was amazing but, as if this was not enough, guests could also order pancakes or omelettes a la carte included in the breakfast price.

The property and setting was breathtaking, beautifully designed and so peaceful. Great location to explore from and easy driving into town. Amazing pools and saunas. The staff were very lovely and helpful. The wine selection and bar snack menu was elevated and delicious. The included breakfast exceeding expectations. A great place to stay for a quiet and relaxing getaway. Would definitely stay there again.

Caloura Hotel is great! The property is very well maintained with a beautiful garden and pool area, many hidden places to sit and chill with a book, paths to the stony beach, beautiful green lawn. We stayed for a couple of days to cover the East side of the island, somehow it was always sunny in the Caloura Hotel, even when it was raining everywhere else. Room was spacious and comfortable and ours was facing the cliff in the West. Staff was incredibly helpful, they sent our postcards and printed our boarding passes with no issues. Stay totally worth the price.

Just excellent, one of the best hotels I've ever stayed. The room is amazing, all new, with a huge bed, super clean, with a very nice balcony with views to the pool and the palm trees. A little paradise. There are cookies, tea, coffee and a fridge in the room. The staff is very friendly and polite. Free parking and amazing breakfast in a relaxing atmosphere. Very good location just 15 min from Ponta Delgada and around 30 min to all the best places of the island. I couldn't have asked for more!

Excellent hotel in a location that allows for convenient trips to all parts of the island. The hotel has a heated swimming pool and an outstanding breakfast. Excellent service at the reception. I would like to mention Mrs. Catarina Ferraz who helped and created a pleasant and good atmosphere. Also the excellent service provided by Mrs. Nelia and Mrs. Rita are lovely.

Chaotic at times, vibrant and good fun.

Chaotic at times, vibrant and good fun. Cruise ships swell tourist numbers for a short while and play havoc with getting a lunch table. Walking is enjoyable, never feeling unsafe - even late at night. Do visit all the tourist spots, they are actually worth going to see! and enjoy the worlds best pineapple.

Spectacular park and hot springs. The foliage in the park is magnificent rivalling some of the most iconic parks in the world. Quiet, close to quiet seaside town with whale watching, fishing and good food.

I enjoyed Riberia Grande.

I enjoyed Riberia Grande. It is a great place to situate yourself if you are planning to visit different areas of the island. The public swimming pools and ocean access was fantastic. I enjoyed going to the courtyard area in my area nightly to eat and enjoy a glass of wine. Took a little getting used to the serving staff here as they did not seem interested in their customers. Upon searching Google, I found out this may be because they are paid a decent living wage and therefore not reliant on tips. This makes it even more confusing as to why they would not be receptive to their customers.

Casas do termo are about 2 km from Lagoa, and we didn't explore this small town well enough. The big Continente supermarket was easy to find (on the road from the motorway). The roads on São Miguel are on the whole very good and the traffic is light. There is a lot of agricultural traffic, however. Using this location as a base, we could easily explore the whole island by car and there are many things worth experiencing (views, villages, Ponta Delgada itself). It's an amazingly lush, green island. We would recommend it!

this hotel was far from the airport or anything else for that matter, if you had to walk so a car is a necessity, and although the hotel had amenities like restaurant (only open for breakfast with the same breakfast every day) and vending machines (which if you could find a working one was empty( best piece of advise is find a grocery store, the island living is the best but it does take some getting used to if your from North America.

It is a beautiful and historic building with so much...

It is a beautiful and historic building with so much character. It has calm and peaceful seating areas throughout where you can sit in comfort. They have the best breakfast and we relied on the banana for a snack as we were out and about during the day. This location is perfect for exploring the island as it is centrally located. We will definitely be back

There is not much going on here.

There is not much going on here. We stayed here as it's close to Pico Da Vara. We should have stayed at Furnas though as we ended up driving down there 3 times :-) That being said, the island is small and it's all doable.

Ginetes is a small town with limited resources for visitors,...

Ginetes is a small town with limited resources for visitors, other than a market maybe, and a church. It isn't particularly attractive and requires a car to get to from the hotel. This is a peaceful boutique hotel in a beautiful and remote setting. However, it is right off the main road traveling to the southwest of the island. It was a very easy drive, around 20-25 minutes, from the airport and with very little traffic, as it is going away from Punta Delgada. The location of the hotel is ideal for exploring the west coast and also Sete Cidades. There is no place to eat close to the hotel, but its dining room has exceptional food. Although the ocean is within view of the hotel, you can not walk to it. In fact, I did not find any good walking travels near the hotel.

It's a very small seaport and ocean front village...there are some local restaurants and bakery, bank and small grocery stores within a short distance. Ensure you take euros because your credit card may not work. The scenery is the most beautiful from rugged mountain terrain to volcanic ocean pools and gorgeous sunsets it's absolutely perfect. You will need a car to get around and the terrain is up and down hills and winding roads. The locals are very accomodating and helpful. Sete Cidades is accessible from multiple roads very close by...if you're looking for quiet village life with lots of scenic ocean views this is the location!

Weather can be unpredictable. Good roads for driving, but tricky narrow mountain roads. Very green and scenic island, good to explore with a rental car. City center sidewalks are narrow, would be difficult for people with reduced mobility.
