It was my first time in Baile Herculane, and I was looking for a quiet, restful place. Hotel Domogled did not disappoint. A lot of the clientele is there to take advantage of the various balneotherapy procedures performed in the onsite clinic. There's also a swimming pool open to all the hotel guests. I had a double room with a balcony on the 4th floor with a gorgeous view of the park in front, flanked by mountains. The room was newly furnished, luminous, quiet, and very clean. The bathroom was in good working order, clean, and big enough not to feel crammed. There is a buffet restaurant on the premises where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served. The menu is well selected (mostly Romanian dishes), there is plenty of variety (at least three choices of soups, meats, and side dishes), and the quality of the food is consistently good. My room included breakfast, but after trying their lunch menu once, I had most of my lunches in there, paying separately. Try it once. You might be coming back. The atmosphere is quiet; no loud music, no loud guests, no parties at midnight. It was clean, quite and in nature. The animal farm was also very nice for us For us as a family with a 2 years old was perfect, because she was had things to do and we had not stress. Food avalaible, not so hot, it was a very relaxing vacation. We also visited around lake Surduc and we did a first small hicking to the waterfall Sopot. Our Superior room was modern, the furniture was new and the bed was very comfortable. We were on the 12th floor and the view of Timisoara was spectacular! Because of the great weather, we were able to use the outdoor swimming pool which was great, but we used the interior spa & pool more often. We enjoyed the swiming pool and the jacuzzi. The view of the mountains is beautiful and the history associated with this place. The Apollo bath museum, the statue of Hercules and the Casino are nice places to visit. The town is nice and very clean and it has enough to offer, even in winter. The not-so-good aspect is that it is rather quiet in the evening, so it is not recommended for people who seek entertainment throughout the night. There is a lot of history starting with the fortress on top of the hill above the town from the era of fighting Turks. Great restaurants and very close to Belgrade. Taxi service is excellent and inexpensive. For best "cevapi" go to BIG and Restaurant Walter, for roast piglet(PECENJE) or roast lamb I recommend Restaurant Beli Narcis or Kod Velje. Both are excellent. The city is being reborn from inside out.
The city is being reborn from inside out. Many old buildings have been restored to their original glory. Many are under restoration projects. Same for historical buildings, churches and cultural landmarks. You can see, feel and touch history that goes back over 2,000 years... and feel safe and welcomed.
