Crowds go with the territory, so know what to expect and try to avoid peak times. Don't ask me how though. EU accession means that costs are now on a par with other destinations, and tipping culture has rapidly become established, to a fault. Bring lots of money. The cable car pricing is outrageous. Take a taxi up instead, but you may have little choice on the way back down. Pro tip: the Dubrovnik Pass represents great value if you are planning to walk the walls. It costs the same as the walls alone, and provides free access to a variety of other attractions, and also free bus travel. We hired electric bikes and rode across the city, which has lots of historical sites. The people are friendly and welcoming. The food is also amazing here. There are local homemade foods too. Beautiful old town, essential to take a boat trip along the bay to view the majestic mountains. The cable car is also a great activity, not only do you get a view of Kotor Bay but when you get to the top there is a lot to explore. The roads are very busy so it takes a while to get around. Essential to book a taxi before you arrive at the airport as the taxis from there are very expensive. Absolutely amazing scenery. The town was perfect size so walking is easy for everyone. Please note the cobbled streets can be a little slippery so fancy high heeled shoes are a No-No! The local people are kind and friendly and everyone is catered for.
