Excellent hotel in a good location. There is free parking and the area is very quiet. There is a supermarket within walking distance and a gas station 5 minutes away by car. The breakfast is rich, varied and very tasty. The staff is very kind and attentive to guests' requests. There is a spa with a sauna and a jacuzzi, and massage treatments are available (for an additional fee). The rooms are equipped with a coffee machine and a large bed. Excellent hotel at a reasonable price, highly recommended!

The place has wonderful surroundings, great to have breakfast outside in the morning sun with fish jumping out of the pond. Rooms was excellent, we had enough space and everything was very clean and newly done. Breakfast was great, on the weekend buffet style with many different options, on the workday as less people we had few options to choose from for the hot that they made for each guessed separately. We also booked spa for an hour, the area is also very new, great sauna, enough space to rest, there is also a jacuzzi, which had a little too hot water for our tastes. We heard people in winter also like to jump out to the snow as you can exit the area and walk around to the pond, etc. Overall excellent place and more affordable than other places around in High Tatry.

I liked everything about Liptov chaty. The place is very peaceful and quiet, close to a bus stop, a coffee shop Vanilka, or a local store Coop. A wooden house is really comfortable and compact for two families with children or for friends group. The bedrooms, located upstairs, are small and cozy. I liked that living room with kitchen, located on the groundfloor, with an entrance to a terrace with a barbecue area where we spent wonderful evenings with family.

Hotel is super nice and location is just perfect - close to Janošikova gorge and Vratna cable car to explore mountains. There are a lot of activities throughout all seasons. Breakfast was delicious, fresh and selection did change a bit every day. SPA is very good - 4 saunas, jacuzzi, pool and ice buckets. In-house restaurant has tasty food and beer from own brewery- very good souvenir. Will come again.

My family and my dog and I were accomodated in the small cottage. We spent the weekend here, but I can imagine even more. There were so many opoortunities what to do - sports, wellness, restaurant, trips on beautiful places around. Also there were flowers and trees everywhere. We enjoyed it on 100%, I would recommend to anyone and I think we will definitely come back.

Location is perfect to go hiking - the trail starts directly next to the hotel. Room was big enough for family with the baby, comfortable beds, nice view from the balcony. Super tasty breakfast. Restaurant in the same building with local cuisine - big portions, meals are good to have after the hike. Spa is just great😊

Good breakfast. Ski pass discount, if you sleep here. Kind staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Great location, you can see the ski slopes and hills from the window and from the restaurant. It is an old hotel, but well renovated and maintained. Ski slopes are about 5 mins by car.

We went purely for skiing.

We went purely for skiing. Lovely slopes, just make sure there’s plenty of snow forecast, else it gets icy. For UK visitors it’s just over a 2 hour flight to Poprad Tatry (Wizz Air) and a 40 minute transfer and you can be skiing by afternoon if you have an early morning flight.

I visit my family in the Roma settlement called Hlboké. When we tried to take a taxi from the train station with my very elderly grandmother on crutches, the driver refused to take us all the way to the settlement. So it's better to walk/not be old or disabled/not have dark skin. No one in the town, least of all the plaque- and monument-makers, seems to have the least idea of the heroic sacrifices that settlement made for the country during World War II (partisan fighters, concentration camps, mass murder of civilians including my grandmother's parents) and Roma are treated poorly (the town refuses to pave their streets, segregates their children into a separate school, etc.), but other than that it's a nice town.

Our main goal was visiting Mala Fatra mountain range - which was an excellent trip that we enjoyed very much - and traditional village Čičmany which was also a very interesting place. But, Žilina is also interesting place with very beautiful main square and lively restaurants with good food. From less ordinary places I can recommend visit to the railway station with some old signs from the times of Czechoslovakia and glass stained windows with motifs from the traditional folk culture. The garden close to the railway station (3 minute walk) is also nice with some interesting sculptures. If I would have 1-2 more days I would rent a bike and explore the town's side streets and suburbs in search of everyday's atmosphere, interesting details, murals, local caffes ... I find it in every place that I visit and I'm sure Žilina has a plenty of them.

Ružomberok is an old industrial town in northern Slovakia (during communist times is was famous for the foul smell from its industries), and a place you still have to drive through because the expressway avoiding the city has not been opened yet...and during my visit this meant chaos with three hours waiting time because of another road reconstruction work... However, there are great possibilities for skiing close to the city and a pair of museums (but aside of that not too much to attract visitors)... The beer from its first micro-brewery, Ursus, is unfortunately also nothing to write home about.

An old provincial town nestled in a valley between forested...

An old provincial town nestled in a valley between forested hills. Although only a few streets of older houses remain, it has a special significance in the country's cultural history, with a good ethnographic museum that looks dilapidated from the outside but is excellent inside. To the south-east is an open-air country life museum, which looked promising although there wasn't enough time to visit it. Nearby to the west is the country's first Via Ferrata, an excellent challenge requiring about 2-3 hours to climb up, plus the return walk down. Besides this the hills are full of trails and forest roads for hiking and exploring.

Also a ping-pong table and man size chess on the square next to the ping-pong table. You can borrow the paddles and chess pieces from there somewhre, just ask at your hotel. We brought our paddles & ball so didn't need theirs. Would be worth visiting the SPA in Afrodita hotel, but we only stayed for 1 night and headed to the Lietava Castle in the morning. - We come to Zuberec every year during the Folklore festival on the first weekend of August. It is a lovely combination of culture and hiking. - There is a lot to do in every season - hiking, biking or skiing just to name a few. - You can also visit the museum of Orava village and cave Brestova. All in all it is a perfect location to recharge your batteries.

Jasna resort is pretty big and there's a lot to do. The lift tickets are ~60 euro per day which personally I thought was way too much. I'm just a beginner though and the weather was really, really cloudy while I was there so on better days and a more experienced skier would definitely get more use out of the lift passes. Poiana Brasov in Romania is ~20 euro a day for lift passes and ~20 euro a day for a full ski set so my price expectations are probably ruined forever because of that.

The countryside near Liptovsky Mikulas is beautiful. Pure nature with a gentle human touch like roads, lots of bike and hiking trails, houses but not disturbing the countryside. The city of Liptovsky Mikulas is small but lovely.

We loved Žilina, very friendly locals, very pretty place. Great food and drink, went for a sporting trip, would definitely return! Great public transport, trolleybus stopped near the train station for our hotel and stopped a block away from the hotel.
