This was our favorite hotel during our trip to Zanzibar (we stayed in four different places around the island). The resort is set right on the sand, with comfortable rooms equipped with a small fridge. The pool is lovely, and the staff are kind and attentive. We loved the peaceful beach, perfect for walks at low tide and the unforgettable sunsets every evening. In the evenings, we also enjoyed the warm atmosphere of the neighboring bar with its cozy fire and vibe. Excellent value for money overall! Absolutely recommend!

I was at the resort 15-22 May 24 which was off peak season and it was perfect. I opted for full board so breakfast and dinner were included in the price of the stay. Breakfast was buffet that includes egg station (yay for custom omelet every morning) and always had fresh fruit among other things. Dinner during low occupancy was a menu with some options for starter, Main and dessert that changed from one day to the next. I thought this was a fun way to choose my dinner and customize my dining experience. When the hotel had more occupancy, dinner was a buffet with several different meal options. The food was always delicious! There is a mango, avocado, shrimp salad on the pool bar menu; you MUST try it. Resort offers free wifi that was strong and reliable throughout my stay. The staff was very responsive and always looking to ensure you were satisfied and had what you needed. I went to adjust one of the pool chairs and it ‘broke’ and there was a staff member there in 30 seconds to get me another chair. Francis worked most of the days of my stay and was so friendly and offered wonderful customer service. The hotel has a spa and I took full advantage! Michi is awesome, the prices were reasonable and I was able to make multiple appointments because it was quiet at the resort. There is a small gym on site but I chose to walk in the mornings; the road outside the resort is calm and people in the town are very friendly.

The existing reviews stating how great this place is are not wrong! Chosen for this reason, we were not disappointed! Tikitams is, without doubt, five star. The staff do everything they can to welcome you and attend to your every need. The hotel is quite remote and certainly not for those looking for exciting nightlife. It's quiet and, most evenings, everyone was back in their rooms by 9pm. But if you're looking for quiet and calmness, where all you hear are the sounds of monkeys and bush babies, this is the place for you. The food is delicious and there is good variety. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. Someone comes in every evening to turn down the bed. Afternoon tea is served every day at 5pm. The bar is a lovely space and cocktails and beer reasonably priced. We were offered a complimentary face, neck and back massage at the spa which was a real treat and outstanding. The staff are amazing. Two examples: 1. We were going on an excursion that involved swimming. Knowing pool towels were provided at the hotel, we had not brought our own. Unsure what we could take for excursion, we planned to ask at reception prior to leaving. We got to reception, ready to depart, and there was the receptionist with towels, anticipating our need without our even asking. 2. We wanted to use the pool table just off the restaurant. It is outside. When we got there, there was a large flying insect sitting on the table top. I got pool cue to encourage it to fly away. From out of the shadows, a massai warrior (I kid you not; they are the security team for the hotel) appeared, removed said insect, and disappeared into the shadows again. Not sure if he continued to observe our bad pool-playing or not because he was undetectable again. All you hear from all who work at Tikitams is 'You're welcome!' and 'Makuna matata'. We had a fantastic four days! I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing get-away-from-it-all!

This exclusive hotel (4 rooms in main house, 2 in adjacent villa) is located in Pingwe, which is right at the top of Paje beach. It is quiet, serene and absolutely beautiful. As soon as you enter the informal reception area you are floored by the paradise view. We had coconuts and Malibu on arrival and given an explanation of the property and area by the owner/manager Inga. We were told about the high/low tides and the sandbank across from the hotel, easily reachable by walking and some swimming at low tide, from which there were corals and snorkelling opportunities. The property provided sea shoes (to prevent stepping on sea urchins) and snorkelling gear. I had the best snorkelling of my life there and no one was around. The food provided by the adjacent restaurant of the same name had some excellent choices. The breakfast was good, although a couple of mishaps on the orders despite us writing it all down on the provided forms the day before. The atmosphere of the property is relaxed with lots of nice touches. Location is perfect for a quiet, restful, and stunning experience with the wonders of the sea. The sand and sea are wonderful here for swimming. We had previously been in the northern beaches around Kendwa which we found not as pleasant.

This was by far the best vacation I've ever had! I love Zanzibar and its people and this place played a major role in it. Everything is so great. There is a 24/7 reception available and whatever you need, they can get you fixed. They were perfectly ready for my very very early check-in, provided a temporary room in which I could rest after a long flight until my room was ready. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. The room service takes very good care of them every single day. The resort offers a big variety of activities prepared by an amazing team of animators. From sport activities, to Swahili lessons to dance and karaoke parties, you will never be bored. There are numerous bars and restaurants offering great selection of food and drinks. Everything is so delicious! All the staff are super friendly, always keen to help you. You can also book various tours and experiences across the the island directly in the hotel. I could go on like this forever, but you really have to experience it for yourself. Thank you so much for everything! I'm definitely coming back one day! Asante sana!

The Sands is rather small resort right on the beach. All rooms are in bungalows or villas. All surrounded by beautiful gardens. We had a huge two-bedroom villa with private pool and spectacular view on the ocean. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, separate kitchen, living room, terrace - plenty of space for our family of four. Beds pretty comfy. Decor rather simple, but honestly nothing to complain about. A/c working good. Cleaned during the day, plus evening turn-down service. We had breakfasts and dinner. Both delicious. Especially the dinner - we stayed three nights and every evening there was a fresh fish prepared right to your order. Delicious grill, but on our request chef also made us marlin and tuna carpaccios. Must try. Plenty of staff, always smiling and ready to help. We also liked the beach bar and their wonderful drinks. Especially fresh coconut pinacoladas.

I booked a night in that hotel because my friends were in the hotel near Milele . I like everything, the food was great , the portions really generous , all the staff very friendly . The room was very clean , the breakfast was super delicious, when I arrived in the hotel was to late but they prepare for me a super good pizza , perhaps the best I ate in Zanzibar . Was the best evening for the birthday to my friend and my stay in Milele beach resort .

Excellent location for quiet vacations. The tide change the view all the time. The villas are spacious, well equipped and modern designed. The sea view villas gives you the privacy that you want. Michamvi is located approximately 65 kilometers from Forodhani, and the journey can feel quite long—particularly if you have just arrived in Zanzibar. The drive is somewhat uncomfortable due to the condition of the road, which consists largely of worn, uneven tarmac. Additionally, the area lacks local street food options, leaving nearby hotels—most of which are high-end and expensive—as the primary dining choices. As someone who genuinely enjoys the rich and flavorful cuisine of Stone Town, I found the food in the area to be rather bland and not reflective of its price point.

The resort was clean and had the island atmosphere. Food was good and a variety to choose wwwith different restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Just a reminnder that you will pay extra at the airport for insurance fees and also extra tax fees at the hotel if its not included in your original price.

What we like most about pongwe is about the safety and quietness of the place ,very peaceful and calm, what we didn't like it's just the beach that's why we didn't get to go there,we liked more of kendwa though it's far from pongwe

Please remember that Marumbi is a Village in a poor third...

Please remember that Marumbi is a Village in a poor third world country and therefore there is very little to do. A few local shops. A couple of local Restaurants (We loved Bustani), no bars and a hotel that doesn’t welcome outsiders. If you are looking for nightlife it’s probably not for you.

Michamvi is good for relaxing and enjoying . There are few vendors and they are not disturbing you and friendly. We stayed 25 days at Kikoi Boutique Resort and arranged all excursions on Zanzibar as well as a Safari with Sir Alex at Kikoi for reasonable prices and with good service . Their Cook Mister Mahaveer Sing is a real Master Chef and we enjoyed every meal he prepared us . Compliments to all the people working there. You made our stay unfogettable. This area has less tourism than some other areas in Zanzi...

This area has less tourism than some other areas in Zanzi bar, it has what you need, different restaurangs, a super market, beachbar and so on. There is not so many other tourists here so you feel like its really a part of an small island. If you are looking for highend dining and alot of shopping then i advise you to look for another area or do as we did - get a car or a taxi its ok priced for a full day. The traffic was really suprising - its was better then most so called modern countries - slow, keeping distance -respecting each other - we rented a car for 3 days and it was super nice. We payed 30usd/day + 10usd for the local driving license - dont drive to fast or drunk - the police are really on there toes - and mind the big roadbumps... We ate a lot of lobster and fish - always fresh - never dissapointed, we also ate alot of vegetarian food - its everywere great dishes.

Pongwe Beach Hotel is a perfect place to stay for a relaxing...

Pongwe Beach Hotel is a perfect place to stay for a relaxing vacation. The staff is friendly and helpful. The beach and grounds are beautiful and well maintained . We love that it peaceful and quiet with no loud music or jet skis. We enjoyed the program put on by the hotel staff that included the guests.

the welcoming commetee was amazing. They made us feel at home. Checking in was a breeze and the pool bar staff was so helpful and friendly. I loved the music by the pool area,it was inclusive to all nations. Tha food was amazing the whole experience was great. I was there to celebrate my birthday and they made it extra special. From the decoration in my room,to the suprise cake and singing.i had a good time. The rock resturant is less than 5min away, we wemt there using the free bicycle offered at the hotel.

The location was excellent.

The location was excellent. The vegetation was very nice, and the seating places were very comfortable. Following my unfavourable interaction with cats, we were upgraded to a bigger room with an ocean view since I have ailurophobia (cat phobia). Thanks to the hotel owners for such a gesture. We had an issue with our bank card, and they also gave us more time during our stay to sort this out. Disliked · Being an Ailurophobia (Cats phobic), I did not enjoy the outdoor space because several cats roamed everywhere, including the restaurant, balconies and stairs. This has nothing to do with the owners but my personal condition. I advise those with similar conditions to avoid this place. Areas of improvement include breakfast - more food diversity and a balanced diet are needed. The beds in the rooms need to be fixed to avoid noise. Bathrooms need upgrading.

It was amazing!!

It was amazing!! Beautiful place and unbelievable accommodation. Food great . The service from the staff was the best ever !!! Both of us fell in love with all of the people working there . Cannot recommend Pongwe Island enough ❤️
