- From US$95.26 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 427 reviewsMy sister and I had a wonderful time at Ammazulu. The place, located in a very green and beautiful area of Durban, is stunning and peaceful. The room was comfortable, large and artsy. The staff was lovely. Miss Alta took great care of us and was so accommodating. She made our stay really special and truly memorable. We highly recommend Ammazulu Palace.Guest review byElizabethItaly

The Hotel rooms are okay the windows, doors and curtains...
The Hotel rooms are okay the windows, doors and curtains must just be cleaned often. The self catering units are not on point. I would recommend that the establishment do a spring cleaning of rooms every weekend as OT. The place must also be fumigated on a regular basis. Complete the renovation on other units. Make a braai area since its a self catering. The maintenance of the building and the appliances is very important. In almost every self catering room something was not working. Other than that if they can attend to this than they place will be a gem. I would recommend people to stay on a budget friendly but in the Hotel and not the self catering.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

This is a great peaceful location with beautiful established gardens, prolific bird life and of course the occasional visit from the areas troop of monkeys. The accommodation is well appointed with all the normal items right down to an iron and ironing board and not forgetting mosquito repellent. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely go back again! Thanks Michelle.Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom - 2.0

I liked the cleanliness, good security, view, tranquility,...
I liked the cleanliness, good security, view, tranquility, and humility displayed by the owner. I didn't the lack of shower 🚿 even if the 🛀 basin is available. If enjoy using the rainy stuff. I recommended though to the owner and he promised to upgrade, gradually though, since he's still at the ground level, hoping to stabilize financially someday, somehow.Guest review byJacob M - 10.0

The accommodation is set overlooking the peaceful valley, wakening to the bird call was amazing. All our needs were met, with exceptional service from Marius and Santi throughout our stay. All amenities are nearby and easily accessible. After the hectic journey from London we were happy to relax within the peaceful surroundings. Will most certainly return on our next visit, and explore more of the area.Guest review byMarysiaMexico - 10.0

Hillcrest is no longer the quiet village it once was.
Hillcrest is no longer the quiet village it once was. It is now a busy town with all modern amenities, malls, banks, hospitals, schools, etc. Fortunately for the B&B and lodge type of accommodation no major chain hotels have opened there yet. There is an abundance of excellent B&B and guesthouse accommodation and travelers are well catered for. Roads are being upgraded and major commercial and residential developments in the area will result in property values increasing. Hillcrest is near enough to Durban for travelers to enjoy the coastal attractions including the warm Indian Ocean, world class aquarium, beaches and major international sporting events and expos.Guest review byGeoffreySouth Africa - 10.0
It was definitely a home away from home experience.
It was definitely a home away from home experience. There was privacy and our own entrance and garden view. The host were amazing and very helpful. The view was absolutely beautiful and the cottage is so close to the mall and the Kranskloof Nature Reserve. The mall is about 7 mins away from the cottage so getting any supplies is quite easy. Definitely worth a stay.Guest review byCJSouth Africa - 2.0
The property is located at a very dangerous location.
The property is located at a very dangerous location. There was no Wi-Fi provided. The room I got was very small, not even the size of the standard room. I had to pay more money to be allocated to deluxe room. After my room was made up, they left it unlocked.Guest review bySandile - 10.0

Hillcrest is a suburb of Durban with an old English country feel. The restaurants are top drawer and the lush green surrounds are tranquil and very scenic. It is still close enough to visit other parts of Durban without too much hassle, whilst feeling like you are miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city haze.Guest review byLindaSouth Africa
