This was guesthouse perfection. We spent the Christmas there, and it exceeded all our expectations. Antonio was a wonderful host - welcoming, thoughtful, charming. Everything was spot on starting from cleanliness, location, privacy, complimentary goods, our welcome letter... Our room was tastefully decorated with beautiful furniture, design items and interesting art. It was just to my/our taste! We loved breakfast by the pool where we got spoiled with fresh croissants and tasty local goods. The attention to detail in this place is incredible. We will definitely be back, and would recommend the place to friends, family, and anyone who is heading to Riebeek-Kasteel and appreciates the finer things in life. Thank you so much for making our romantic little Christmas getaway perfect!

Gareth and Grant run an exceptional operation - the property is in immaculate condition, and the facilities are a sublime blend of comfort and function. Yet focusing only on the room or property itself would do massive injustice to the next level hospitality of the hosts. Their attention to detail, combined with an impressive repertoire of high quality freshly prepared food, punctuated what was a truly delightful experience.

The cottage was lovely decorated by Nikula: the British countrystyle gives you a warm, luxury and homely feeling. There is also good equipped kitchen, nice saloon and relaxing outside furniture. And thanks to Pietie for the braai-fire and the really nice evening together.

What a beautiful quaint town.

What a beautiful quaint town. Certain of the restuarants need to rethink what they present to their patrons as their menus were misrepresentations of their meals However we had excellent service and food, lunch and breakfast in Riebeeck-west at Cucina Krematart which also had a beautiful nursery next door which had unusual plants.Their Terbourdore coffee was fabulous like usual.

Great little town. Rose Cafe was really good.

Great little town. Rose Cafe was really good. Unfortunately the local farm workers keep the town centre a little busy - borderline chaotic, but that's South African rural towns on a Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Was expected.

I loved the "feel" of Darling, with their big wide roads.

I loved the "feel" of Darling, with their big wide roads. You really felt you were out in the countryside, fresh air & beautiful birdsong....no traffic noise. I found the people very friendly. We went for a wedding on one of the farms & loved every minute of it. We ate at the Marmalade Cat, good food, staff were warm & inviting & the cost was very reasonable. I also bought some beautiful gifts from The Heart of Darling shop, loved wandering around the array of items. We also popped into The Forge, such great ambience, lovely staff. I wanted to go back there but we ran out of time. We have friends in Darling & had a braai with them, so we got to meet some of the locals.... loved it! We'll be back.

I stayed on a farm (Blou Porselien) just outside of Herman. Beautifully quiet and tranquil. If you are wanting time away from the rush and busyness of city life, you won't find better than this.

Porterville is a very small town.

Porterville is a very small town. The Villa-Choc-O-Latt is situated on the main road and is easy to find, although somewhat noisy due to passing traffic. The surrounding scenery, canola fields, agriculture and history of the area is lovely and Porterville is a good transitional point to travel further up the West Coast.

The house is beautiful and old and the kitchen has all glass . It makes you feel that you are living in a historical house. They have made the property with this beautiful garden and it is lovely The table is outside under the trees for all your meals There is place to sit in the shade and to sit in the sun. The backyard has a firepit. You can spend days there just eating drinking swimming reading and playing games.
