Superb hotel, a few minutes walk from the centre of Colchester, maintaining a standard that would match any, anywhere. Clean, comfortable with a fully equipped bathroom. Breakfast was excellent with table service rather than buffet. Free secure parking in the grounds of the hotel. The hotel is excellent value for money.

Check in by Katie was brilliant considering we had made an error. A compliment to the hotel. Doreen the lady who served us breakfast was excellent as well. The staff are all very good. This is a recommended value for money stay.

The location is amazing as it’s easy to reach by train, and as soon as you reach the location you’re immersed into nature and can’t hear any city noises. Spa is Basic but well maintained and they offer a lot of extra services, can get a bit busy and people are not always respectful to behave spa-like, but time it right during the day and you can have an amazing relaxing experience.

Situated 49 km from Freeport Braintree, The Rose and Crown offers 3-star accommodation in Thorpe le Soken and has a shared lounge, a restaurant and a bar.

The rooms were absolutely amazing. They were all different with beautiful beams exposed in some and all very spacious. The bar and restaurant were fabulous and staff very friendly and professional.
