The property is perfectly placed, both close to the beach and the lively town area. But what makes the place is the staff. They are fantastic. The place is run by 4 brothers and they are all friendly, helpful and kind. It is obvious how proud they are of their hotel and so they should be. The breakfasts are amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay here.

Adjacent to Unawatuna Beach, Sergent House is set in a boutique villa showcasing colonial architecture and originating in the 1800's.

This villa is truly wonderful, offering all the necessary amenities and a serene, peaceful environment. In the mornings, you can enjoy the sight of a variety of beautiful birds. The hospitality here is exceptional. We went diving in Unawatuna at 8 AM and chose to skip breakfast beforehand, as having a heavy meal isn't ideal before diving. We planned to have our breakfast afterward, but due to an unexpected delay, we returned to the villa at 12:45 PM. Despite it being well past breakfast time, the Office Manager, Mr. Thilak, kindly prepared and served our meal without any hesitation. I deeply appreciate this level of service — it was excellent. Moreover, the breakfast was incredibly tasty and delicious. I highly recommend this villa, and I extend my heartfelt thanks to Mr. Thilak and the kind staff for their outstanding hospitality.

This is a gem of a place to stay. The hosts are wonderful. There is a real family sense to the hotel. It's a great little find. It's close to the beach and restaurants. i would easily spend a few weeks staying at this hotel. Now, even though we booked for 4 nights in this hotel, we only stayed 2 maybe 3 nights - that's because my wife got sick when we were there. Nothing to do with this hotel, but she had Dengue Fever, so we ended up spending a night in a local hospital. I certainly had no expectation on Secret Garden to do anything for us, but they went above and beyond to support us. they called and checked in on us while we were in the hospital and they were courteous and informative about my wife's condition. Although, it had been a tough few days with illness for my wife, we were so glad that we were in Secret Garden when it happened. We felt very looked after.

Despite arriving very late, we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome including delicious fresh passion fruit juice. Our cabana was beautifully presented with ample space and spotlessly clean. Staff were well trained and very attentive. Breakfast was served on the veranda of our cabana each morning with options presented to us the night before. Highlights included the king coconut and kola kenda. On request, lunch and drinks were served to the cabana with an attention button in case we needed to order more. The cabanas are located metres away from the beach, a short walk to the right of the hotel which takes you to the giant turtles conservation area. We recommend going in the morning, preferably before breakfast (take 1000 rupees to buy seaweed for the turtles from a local seller) and then hopefully, like us, enjoy some time alone with the turtles. This was a highlight of our week long visit to Sri Lanka. Off season, the water was fairly choppy on the first day (I recommend to take water shoes for the rocks) however much calmer on the second day and an easier walk on the sand. An alternative walk is heading to the left of the hotel where you can walk for miles along deserted beaches, spotting smaller turtles along the way! There are a few obstacles to climb over but all manageable. If you do not wish to eat at Rockside, then a bustling area on the beach full of bars and restaurants is just a 10 minute Tuk Tuk ride away. We recommend Samson Seafood Restaurant which delighted us with an exceptional seafood platter and wonderful service.

Thambapanni Retreat is located in Unawatuna, a 5-minute walk from Unawatuna Beach. It features 2 dining options, an outdoor swimming pool and rooms with a TV. Free Wi-Fi and parking are provided.

An exceptionally charming hotel, built on a cliff with the jungle all around! For lovers of peace and nature, this place is a real gem! The staff is so friendly and always smiling. The breakfast is copious: a wide choice, from continental to Sri Lankan, plus a plate of fresh fruits! You can also book ayurvedic massage sessions (€20 for 90 minutes) and yoga sessions at unbeatable prices. The hotel also hires out scooters for excursions. The superior room with its view of the jungle is breathtaking! We had the visit from purple-faced langur and toque macaque right opposite our balcony! Don't worry: their presence is not invasive. Just don't feed them! Finally, you can also dine at the hotel, which offers very fresh seafood: tuna (a real treat for gourmets!), tiger prawns, etc. If you eat out, you'll pay a lot more for the fish! This hotel is just magnificent and has won our hearts.

Thaprobane Beach House is located on Unawatuna's main beach. It features 2 dining options and air-conditioned rooms with views of the ocean and greenery.
