Overall my recent stay at Intercontinental Kuming is with absolute satisfactory. Especially I was very happy for the assistance by the Concierge te4am. Mr Smulin was very helpful to me such as buying new air tickets to other city of China and further amendments as well as arrangement for my airport transfer. He was always very active with quick responses, willing to help and did his best. If I was asked, I would give him and his concierge team at Intercontinental Kuming the full score 10 out of 10. Our host made the most delicious breakfast every morning, preparing many different dishes with so much love and care. She was so generous with her time and treated us to multiple tea ceremonies during our stay. The dining area and our room were located around a delightful courtyard and garden with a large pond. Every day would see ducks swimming and squirrels scampering around the trees. Our room was tastefully furnished with many nice details including a lovely tea set with a different tea to try each day, delightful small snacks and incense. The bed was extremely comfortable. We had an amazing and relaxing stay and were so impressed by the quality of our experience. We'll definitely stay here again!

Tucked away in the fabled Shangri-La, Courtyard Shangri-la 藏舍小院 is a peaceful setting featuring cosy guestrooms of Tibetan touches.

Mr Lee - the owner of the place had upgraded our booking to another of his property just few doors away from Courtyard Shangri-la. It is a much bigger and newer property - actually everything looked new. Mr Lee had given us a big penthouse with sitting and ensuite downstair and a big area on the upper floor with 2 queen beds, another sitting / TV area, a large writing table, huge bathtub, and another toilet. This room can in fact stay for at least 4 persons comfortably. The property was clean, very comfortable and very quiet. It also feel secure and exclusive. Taxi or Didi can just reach up to the entrance of the property, so it is also very convenient in that sense. Mr Lee has been very kind to offer to pick us up at the train station when we arrived and drop us off when we left with his nice big 4WD. We can also enjoy our coffee at Courtyard Shangri-la in the morning for free. The property is a bit out of the busy area of Dukezong Ancient City but it is better as it is more peaceful with less people. It also has a very nice view to the Big Buddha Temple at Guishan Park in the Ancient Town (from the upper floor) - particularly when the lights are on, fantastic view! Note that this IS NOT about Courtyard Shangri-la but another newer property of the same owner. Thanks to Mr Lee for his hospitality. If I ever return to Shangri-la City, I will certainly contact Mr Lee again.
