The place is old, that's what you get for looking for an onsen ryokan but it's well maintained and the cuisine offered was faultless.

It's just about within walking distance of the Yokoyama trail area if you're up for a bit of hiking.

The rooms are huge and so comfortable, the staff exceptional and the breakfast buffet had a huge selection of Western and Japanese options. The view from the outdoor lounge is incredible. We got up to watch the sunrise from the outdoor area and the staff provided the guests (there were about 10-12 of us) with coffee while we enjoyed the changing colours. There is a lot of history here as the Emperor stays here and Queen Elizabeth did as well. It’s lovely to see they celebrate this with their displays.

It has shared bath and a courtyard garden. The cool old building around 100 years old. It provide the nostalgic ambience with amazing charm.
