Probably the comfiest hotel bed we've ever slept in - the quality of the sheets, matress and pillows was incredible. we got a free upgrade to a suite, the room was enormous and beautiful, with a freestanding bathtub. Breakfast was delicious, the hotel design was very fun. Beautiful rooftop pool and bar. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Would love to go back!

I loved the idea of trust: you can take food or drinks from the hotel’s shop or bar, mark it down, and pay at the end. In the morning, breakfast ingredients are delivered so you can cook yourself, which makes it feel more like staying in a home than a hotel. The location is stunning – probably the best spot for sunsets on Madeira, in a quiet, non-touristy area surrounded by nature. With only six cottages, privacy is guaranteed. The cottages are decorated in a cozy rustic style, very clean, with vintage furniture that adds charm. In 5 minutes by car are some of the best restaurants we tried on the island, plus even a specialty coffee shop. It’s also a perfect base to explore the northwest, southwest, and central parts of Madeira. Out of four accommodations we stayed in during our trip, this was by far the best.

Excellent service from the moment you enter the hotel. All staff extremely friendly. Nice rooftop pool and bar/lounge. Rooms have everything you need. Left before breakfast but got a breakfast box that had more food than I could eat. Free spa admission with a steam room and Turkish bath complimentary. Nice restaurant and ambiance throughout the hotel. Highly recommended.

An old, very original house, owned by a branch of the Blandy family (I am told the last of the family run wineries on the island), is full of old world colonial charm. Set high on the hill overlooking Funchal this is a real gem and a welcome change to the bland more expensive hotels in the heart of the city. An easy taxi or bus ride from the centre it has parking, great views and delightful grounds. Run by the ever helpful Margarida if you can put up with its few idiosyncrasies I can’t recommend it highly enough. A breath of fresh air.
