Set by a fortress from 1735, this waterfront hotel on Värmdö Island offers impressive views of Solöfjärden and the surrounding archipelago. It provides free Wi-Fi, a café in a conservatory, a restaurant and free use of bicycles. We wanted a break from hard travel and are so glad we chose Fredriksborg. The rooms are very simple with a terrific outlook. The location is remarkable, on a hill above the deep water channel going in and out of Stockholm. The first time we saw a huge ship gliding by above eye level was a happy surprise. The dinner served at their restaurant was superb. But the best of all is the staff. They take great pride in the history of the location and its role in the defense of Stockholm in centuries past. Pontus (spelling ?) went out of his way to show us the property as well as to drive us to the ferry for the return to Stockholm. We were very appreciative.

The hotel restaurant serves European cuisine; everything from escargots to steak tartare to Sicilian fish. In the summer, the outdoor terrace offers a relaxing setting where guests can enjoy fresh cocktails. Love this place! Like it have a soul, always pleasure to be here.

The hotel offers a variety of daily activities for guests, such as movie nights, yoga, kayaking and skateboarding lessons. The rooms were very fun and comfy. My kids loved it! Food was great and they always received our allergy indications without any trouble. The net upstairs and the bar were a great way to relax after walking the entire day.
