We have never experienced this kind of luxury in our lives….. this place and environment totally blew our minds! We had te luxury to stay in the villa, and exceeded all our expectations. The views, the pool, the sauna, the hotspring tub, the fireplace, the BBQ… it was more than enough to really end our holiday totally relaxed! We were supposed to go to Tokyo the last 3 days of our holiday, but we where glad that we canceled that, and went to Shikuoka instead! The falls and wasabi fields and hikes nearby were great excursions, and then come back to the villa was a real dream! Also there were no other guests, so we had the whole place for ourselves…. I am so glad I found this hotel, it was an amazing stay, loved it absolutely! Such a quality service for its price, I loved onsens and sauna, it was so cosy and pleasant! The room is very pretty and comfortable too, and the beach where was noone except me. And the receptionists are helpful. I am full of positive emotions, thank you! 10 out of 10.

One of our favorite hotel if you like to experience an outdoor onsen with crashing waves and great sunset sea view. You can reserve an onsen for private use (only once per night stay, unfortunately). We also found the kaiseki means of excellent quality. I understand some guests did complain about the structural integrity and conditions of the building and rooms, especially the molds and the handrails down to the open-air onsen. However, I did not find this an issue during this visit and was very satisfied with the wooden handrails provided. Unless you have major sinus issues, do not miss this hotel if you need a stop at the Dagoshima area.

They issued us a wrong type of room and as an apology upgraded us to a room with private onsen. The hotel is a bit old but is clean. Both the indoor and outdoor onsens are nice. The view of the sea from our room is gorgeous. The relaxation room is huge, there are massage chairs, board games, hammocks and lots of books for guests to enjoy. The buffet dinner is great, good variety (Japanese) and delicious. What surprises me is the free flow of alcohol; sake, wine, beer and even whisky! Service staff is helpful and professional. The carpark is opposite the hotel across the road, so it is better to drop off your luggage and travel buddies first.

Really enjoyed staying at Ushiogumo: The facilities are brand-new and impeccable, amazing staff (!!), beautiful location that's close to scenic landscapes. The Kaiseki Ryori dinner was excellent, breakfast was great too! Each room has a private bath on the balcony. There's lots of amenities in the room. Plus, the hotel onsen is made available for private use from 6pm. It's a small property (I counted 7 rooms) and thus feels very cozy. The road in front of the hotel did not really bother us. The terrace windows are well-isolated to block out any noise and there's also the calming sound from the balcony onsen. Extra points for the super-friendly staff!!! ...who can also converse in English so it's no problem for foreign tourists.

We stayed two nights in the room with the private open air bath on the balcony, it was such a great experience, from the place itself to the private Onsens available on the property to the traditional clothing provided for the guests, and the amazing breakfast we had by the river. Staff were very friendly and helpful, they made us feel very welcomed there. It is also easily reached by public transportation, which is a small adventure by itself.

Registered as a tangible cultural property, Ochiairo offers Japanese-style accommodations, public indoor/outdoor hot-spring baths, as well as a free pick-up service from Shuzenji Station.

The service is excellent, all the staffs are very nice. The view of the mountain and the fall are so beautiful. Dinner is also great!
