Very luxurious Ryokan very close to the deer park which allowed us to explore the nicest area of Nara in the evening as well as early morning. The dinner was exceptional and they went above and beyond to meet dietary wishes. We had the room with private onsen which is definitely a recommendation! It was quite expensive but our best stay of the trip! The staff was very friendly too

The traditional room was amazing and very spacious, with very clean facilities and a small balcony for a relaxing bath outside. The onsen upstairs was very clean and very inviting with exceptional facilities. The staff were amongst the most friedly people we met on our travels around Japan providing us with a guide on popular routes to explore around Nara and offering additional services such as taking a photo of us and a free gift bag. The traditional breakfast was incredible, providing us with a very memorable experience.

Places was really authentic, futon was incredible, and owner was really sweet and spoke good English. Dog was cool. Japanese breakfast was amazing.

A 12-minute walk from the Kintetsu Nara Train Station, Hotel New Wakasa offers Japanese-style rooms with tatami (woven-straw) flooring.

Staying at a ryokan always sort of puts a calming spell on you - and this one in the woods of Nara is magic. Enchanting location, perfectly quiet after days of busy tourism. Delicious dinner and breakfast, excellent service and beautiful facilities.

Incredible views in the room, and we had a delicious kaiseki meal. Staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay! Their office in the centre of Nara is extremely helpful, and you can store your luggage there prior to your stay and wander around town leisurely

It was comfortable, quiet and unique. We enjoyed the hot baths privately and then went on the massage chairs which was great after days of walking. We fell fast asleep and were very comfortable. A very special place.

The location is excellent. Great starting place to walk anywhere in the area and visit all sites. The onsen is super and very relaxing. Free coffee and drinks in the lobby at all hours, restaurant onsite, and a communal sitting area are nice too.
