We wanted to visit the so-called Demon Slayer castle hotel. It’s out of the way so we rented a car rather than take transit. The drive itself was four hours from Tokyo. From the parking lot staff, to front desk, housekeeping and everyone there… the staff were all amazingly kind and patient. Not everyone speaks English, but there are a few. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very ryokan style (tatami) and the onsen was super clean. We had Kaiseki dinner and it was quite the experience. Food was delicious at dinner and the buffet lunch was traditionally Japanese. The stand out for us was the AIZU yogurt and AIZU maple syrup made from local chestnut trees. If anyone at Ookawaso reads this, please accept our thank you. You were all wonderful and we hope to visit from Canada again someday. Thank you for your patience with my eight year old son and our horrible Japanese.

Sansuiso Tsuchiyu Spa bevindt zich in Fukushima, op 24 km van station Nihonmatsu, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren en een gedeelde lounge. The pictures do not do the onsen at this ryokan justice. We arrived later than I had hoped because our car's navigation lead us in the wrong direction, but the staff never made us feel guilty and helped us to check in. Our room was Japanese style with a great view of the garden and the ravine the river flows into. My tween found the futons very comfy. They worked with our dietary restrictions to make a wonderful multi-course Japanese meal, though I admit, I think I still liked the tempura course best. My tween slept through breakfast, but I really liked the fruit smoothie, which was lighter than I expected. The onsen are amazing here. There is the very traditional looking bathes overlooking a waterfall as well as two other floors of onsen, some of which rotate between men and women. Most of the onsen are also quite deep. My only regrets are we arrived late and couldn't explore the town and that I didn't buy the special chopsticks for sale here.

Excellent ryokan, and the service is impeccable. Since this ryokan is in an isolated location, it is mostly suited for travellers who are well-versed in Japanese language and culture.

Het Marumine ligt in Ashinomaki Onsen en biedt kamers met airconditioning en een eigen warmwaterbron in de openlucht. The hotel and the room were very spacious and the facilities were really nice. Staff was really nice and friendly. The food was good and the baths were really nice.

Views are very beautiful and the balcony was also very nice. The room is spacious and has all the usual needs. Free parking which is great, Onsen although we didn't use it and wasn't tattoo friendly. Laundry room was also useful

I enjoyed the japanese breakfast with fish; curry, oden with miso soup and rice. The osen would clean and not crowded. The area is great for hiking for all levels. I 76 yrs old...but the hike downhill from the hotel was beautiful. The few shops provide manji and cookies for purchase. The wifi was excellent. The local bus to Nihonmatsu is very cheap.
