Kanko Ryokan is absolutely lovely. A traditional inn on a mountaintop with spectacular view. The tram ride up is fun, very Miyazaki :) Cozy and immaculate. Eiko and her mom and 2 poodles were welcoming and helpful. The private onsen was HOT and relaxing. Breakfast was a visual and tasty delight. Ikoma is a cool little hidden gem and the temple just above is magnificent and well worth a visit. It was my last night in Japan and I took the train from there to Osaka airport, very convenient. I hope to return and would recommend it to any traveller.

The ryokan also offers free use of bicycles. Kofuku-ji is 1.1 km from Musashino, while Kasuga Taisha is 300 metres from the property. The nearest airport is Osaka Itami Airport, 39 km from the property. Location is great, right in Nara park. Staff was helpful and understanding of the language barrier. Let us drop our bags off early before check-in. Great food and service for both supper and breakfast. Nice big room for the two of us. They were nice enough to order our taxi for us the morning we left so we didn't have to worry about hiking back to the train (or bus) station.

Soundproof rooms feature a serene interior with a tatami (woven-straw) floor, low furniture and shoji paper screens. Amenities include a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a fridge and toiletries. Guests sleep in Japanese futon bedding, and the rooms come with an all-wooden bathroom. A very comfortable tatami-mat room with a deep full soak tub. The location in regards to Nara Park was fantastic and I had a wonderful view of Tōdai-ji in the mornings. Things were very quiet, the staff went above and beyond to make sure my stay was everything it could be including walking me through all the amenities they had to offer. They also provided local area maps with all the main attractions and let me know how best to navigate what I wanted to do which helped quite a bit with planning how I spent my time.

Featuring 1-star accommodation, Hotobil B&B 潤 An inn that enjoys breakfast is located in Nara, 2.1 km from Nara Station and 21 km from Iwafune Shrine. This ryokan provides free private parking, a shared kitchen and free WiFi. The ryokan features family rooms. Staying at Hotobil was one of my favorite parts of our whole trip to Japan - and the food was straight up the BEST (and we ate a lot of great meals out there). The location is super easy to access, just a minute away from the main tourist-friendly loop bus through town, in a quiet residential neighborhood - as soon as we stepped through the door, we felt at home, like we were visiting family, not a hotel. Our host is the nicest, most helpful lady, and the best cook. She was also so fast responding to our questions! My dad and I are both fish-ambivalent vegetarians and we made a last-minute request for breakfast (pictured! yes all that just for breakfast!) as well as dinner just a few days before we got there and as I said, they were the two best meals we had all trip. We stayed in the Japanese style tatami room, which was beautiful and almost absurdly spacious for two, with super comfy mattresses and fluffy pillows and duvets. It was enchanting, and we wished we were staying a second night (and yes, there's more than enough to see in Nara for two days).

Basic Japanese-style rooms overlook the temple compound, and feature a tatami (woven mat) floor, on which traditional futon bedding is spread to sleep in. They are fitted with air conditioning and a safe. This was one of the most beautiful places we’ve seen. Amazing traditional ryokan, great bath. Very friendly staff. The food was tasty! The overall experience is very special. The whole territory of the monastery is beautiful - both in the morning and at night. We took a little hike to the top of the hill, it was easy, and there’re sticks available.

Tsukihitei is located in the Kasugayama Primeval Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Each guest room has a Japanese-style decor and offer panoramic forest views, traditional tatami (woven-straw) floors, and shoji paper screens. Very hospitable and accomodating. Genuine in wanting to provide a good ryokan experience. They took care of everything from drawing the baths and scheduling meals with us and patiently waited when we were a little late. Hosts were always on hand to greet when we enter or left the property. We even went for a little hike after arriving and it was quite peaceful, seeing the occasional deer along the way. We also asked for help to book a taxi to take us back into town and it was promptly waiting for us at the scheduled time.

Friendly staff in a clean and quiet ryokan style hotel right next to Naramachi, central Nara, and the park. The rooms were nice with a tatami area as well as a little reading space next to the windows overlooking the pond.
-Onsen , it was nice, clean, big with a lot of amenities, all you needed was there. There was also some refreshment for afterward, a tatami room to relax -amenities -breakfast was also enjoyable with lots of items. -staff was friendly and helpful specially the morning staff at the breakfast buffet. -ice dispenser machine
The rooms are cute and traditional style, very clean and the tatami is really comfortable. The onsen is perfect for ending the day. Really close to the Park, the staff is very helpful. Everything was perfect!
Very nice place to stay at and an interesting experience to be in a hotel with tatami everywhere and you will walk barefoot inside the hotel. Then onsen is really nice and the rooms are cozy.
Great location as we did not expect the hotel is just located right next to the Nara Station. We were carrying big luggages but the hotel is just so accessible. Across the road, it's busiest street of Nara. All the way till the end you can find the legendary mochi place. But what makes the stay experience so great is that there's tatami flooring in the entire hotel. There's also free flow ice-cream provided after onsen.
Extremely friendly staff, the kaiseki dinner was delicious with a lot of variety, same for the breakfast (opted for Japanese style). Everything was clean, the room was amazing, clean yukatas and haoris were provided daily, the futon beds were very comfortable. This Ryokan is very well located as it's very close to the Kintetsu-Nara train station (with direct trains to both Kyoto and Osaka) and the main streets while still in a very quiet area. Definitely recommend to anyone staying in Nara, either for just one night or for a few days!
The onsen was amazing and the breakfast was one of the most unique experiences in Nara! Recommend if you want to live the Japanese experience having and amazing time in a tatami room, sleeping in a Futon and having an amazing view from an onsen ❤️
The room was perfectly cleaned and was convenient and quiet, typical tatami floors and futon bed to sleep on. The area is quiet but very central and within walking distance to all major attractions. The staff was very helpful and polite and they accommodated all of my requests. The private onsen is amazing to have and I enjoyed it very much. Would highly recommend staying here!
The Ryokan is literally 1min walk from the station, in a peatonal street full of shops. The personal was very kind and they were always trying to help. They took care of our luggage before the check in and after the check out. The room was amazing with tatami floor and they left a yukata for each gest. The Onsen was amazing and very relaxing. The breakfast was incredible, everything in the menu was amazing and very tasty. 100% recommended
Lovely spacious tatami room, very comfortable futon. Room did have ensuite bathroom, but we enjoyed the nice big hot shared baths available, much like going to a sento. Yukata were provided too. Teas and senbei in the room were very welcoming.
