Ask for dinner recommendation, and follow the advice! Do not miss the Kannawa steam bath, 5mins on foot. Parking easy, just come downhill by car, easier access that way.

Providing city views, Beppu Kannawa Onsen HIROMIYA is located in the Kannawa Onsen district of Beppu, 26 km from Crasus Dome Oita and 5.5 km from Beppu Station. Featuring a shared lounge, the 2-star ryokan has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi. Private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. We had a big room with toilet on the second floor. Lots of space. It was quiet and clean. The owner is very friendly and helped us make reservations to various Onsens. We also could use the private in-house Onsen. It’s all very authentic and we loved our stay. The guesthouse is in the middle of Kannawa Onsen so you can do 5 of the 7 hells on foot. The last two you can easily reach by bus. Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, the non-smoking ryokan has a hot spring bath. We had the most wonderful stay at Assi. The host is so warm, welcoming, and generous. Even though she couldn't speak much English and we can't speak much Japanese communication was no problem due to her willingness to use a translation app. We stayed in room 1 which is a Japanese-style room with futons. It was so spacious and had everything we needed and more - a kettle and fridge, sofa, even a massage chair (which was heavenly after walking all day) and our own private patio looking our over the beautiful garden. The breakfast was outstanding, prepared with so much care. There is also coffee, tea and snacks in the kitchen, which was very much appreciated. Bathroom facilities are shared but were clean and tidy and all toiletries - even skincare - was provided. We also enjoyed the private onsen. Staying at Assi feels like you're a guest in someone's home in the best possible way.

The staff members were very gracious, the meals were amazing, and the accommodations were beautiful and comfortable. We loved our private onsen. We can't rave enough about Ryokan Fukinoya, definitely a highlight of our trip!
