The rooms were spacious and very traditional, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful! The location was close to for example Hyotan Onsen and the Jigoku sights as well as Kannawa bus station for easy access to a quick trip to Myoban as well. Every morning we got boiled onsen eggs outside our door and there were filter coffee bags and hot water in the kitchen. Miho went out of her way to help us out at every turn!

I had very good sleeps and rests each night in a very comfortable Japanese, tatami style room. I really felt like a childhood home. It was very comfortable. The room was big with it’s own VERY LOVELY porch. Waking up every morning and drinking tea and eating their DELICIOUS breakfast each morning was a joy and I really felt at peace. Assi chan the cat has been keeping me company during my solo stay in the inn. She is THE SWEETEST The bathroom and toilet are not attached to the room but not an issue at all as the place is small and very comfortable and clean I’ve never stayed at a place this HOMEY before. I wish I had stayed longer. I’m definitely coming back to Assi again when I visit Yufuin next time

The staff members were very gracious, the meals were amazing, and the accommodations were beautiful and comfortable. We loved our private onsen. We can't rave enough about Ryokan Fukinoya, definitely a highlight of our trip!

The Omakase served are so beautiful presented like fine dining. Onsen is fantastic too. Staff are friendly too. The rice cooked with Kombu and fish is out of the world 😋❤️👍

The accommodation features a hot spring bath, free WiFi throughout the property and family rooms. I had the pleasure of spending 3 nights at Ikkoten with my three children, and our stay was nothing short of perfection. We were originally going to stay as a family of 5 at the KAI Yufuin but when an important business trip took my husband out of the vacation we had to quickly pivot because my ten year old son wouldn’t have been able to use the hot springs alone there. The reservable family onsen as well as our private indoor/outdoor onsen (we stayed in Kyara) allowed him to have as wonderful an experience as the girls and I. While the family onsen is great, we loved the convenience and privacy of our private one so much that we ended up using the family onsen only once. Notably, this is not a part of Japan where there’s a ton of English spoken, but the staff at Ikkoten had excellent English, which was super helpful for us as American visitors. They were super accommodating of the kids and provided samue (pajamas that are also worn to meals), geta (wooden sandals), and slippers in multiple sizes. The grounds are beautiful - a back drop of tall seeene forest (you can always here the serene sound of wind rushing through the leaves and pine needles), mountains at Mt Yufu on the other sides, and then a beautiful manicured garden. Our late March stay marked the beginnings of all kinds of blooms, and just standing outside you’d catch the perfumed scent of all kinds of beautiful flowers. The meals were absolutely incredible. The kids got wonderful multi-course meals of rice and tempura and miso soup (with a little bit of new and interesting dishes to try too). My 12 year old daughter was considered an adult by the resort, but when I requested kids meals for her, they were happy to pivot after 24 hours (the kaiseki meals were just too much for her 40kg frame!!). But those kaiseki meals were truly scrumptious. When booking the property for multiple nights, I hadn’t realized how overwhelming they could be, and I swear I gained like 10lbs just in those 3 days alone!!
