Shokinkan biedt gratis WiFi in de hele accommodatie en kamers met airconditioning in Yasugi. Shokinkan is a truly magical place operated by incredible people. Nestled in a gorgeous, ancient temple complex, the grounds are extremely fun to hike/explore during the day, with plenty of opportunities to learn about the history of the place through thoughtful signage and the wonderful staff. The food was absolutely delicious - we were eating a feast of unique foods specially prepared for us every evening and morning, which made the experience epic. Okami-san and everyone else here gregariously welcomed us with cups of beautiful matcha, and even shuttled us to and from Yasugi station and to the Adachi Museum of Art. I will never forget this place!

Showcase Hotel KASANE bevindt zich in Gotsu, op 13 km van Gotsu City General Citizen Center Milky Way Hall, en biedt accommodatie met gratis WiFi en gratis privéparkeren. Everything was so chic and modern in a traditional area. It’s this new wave of Japanese accommodation that is very impressive. It’s a little pricey, but absolutely worth every cent in my opinion.

Nipponia Izumo Hirata Cotton Road ligt in Izumo, op minder dan 1 km van Atagoyama Park, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren en een restaurant. Having been to Izumo before and knowing it would not disappoint, I decided to take my family for another vacation in January. We stayed at Nipponia Izumo - Hirata Cotton Road for three nights. It is a former traditional sake brewery house converted into a kominka style hotel. Situated on a quiet historical sake and soy sauce business street, the hotel not only provided a unique home sweet home service but also amazing fine dining experience. Their in-house chef made each meal using local products to create feasts that delighted the senses. I highly recommend this hidden gem of an accommodation if you do visit Izumo.

Ryokan Nushiya bevindt zich in Gotsu, op 13 km van Gotsu City General Citizen Center Milky Way Hall, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren, een terras en een restaurant. Secluded area, very quiet. Loved the outdoor onsen in my room, especially on cold days, the contrast is awesome. They had 2 private indoor solo onsens that were FCFS, and a large community shared one. Kaiseki meal was great. Wish there was more beef as it was awesome.

Ryokan Koyokan bevindt zich in Yasugi, op 27 km van Mizuki Shigeru-straat, en biedt een tuin, allergievrije kamers, en gratis WiFi. What can I say? This Ryokan was even better than how I’d pictured it. It’s hidden in a forest surrounded by nature and peacefulness. I even had a view from my room of the beautiful three story pagoda. The food is excellent and dinner comes in courses and beautifully presented like fine food (I chose the mostly vegetarian option), eaten in the private dining rooms with big windows to see the nature. The hot bath (not a true hot spring) has a schedule in evening and is freely available in the morning. I took a relaxing bath both morning and evening. It was exactly what I needed to get away from the hustle of the cities and recover from work stress. The owners are very kind, with one of them I was able to communicate a bit in English. I walked from the nearest train station there, which took me a bit under 1.5 hours. As I enjoy walking and the countryside is beautiful it wasn’t a problem, but it’s something to be mindful of, as there is no bus and the only other option is a taxi.

Saginoyusou is gelegen op 24 km van Shinji-meer en 27 km van Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum, en biedt kamers in Yasugi. My first 10 rating. Our room was fantastic, with a large sitting area, separate sleeping area with comfortable beds and private outdoor onsen. Staff were uniformly friendly, helpful and polite. Our meals were excellent and very filling. Each large window in our room looked out on different areas of an impeccably designed garden. We are already planning our next visit.

Senjoen ligt tegenover het strand in Shimokō, op 15 km van Gotsu City General Citizen Center Milky Way Hall en 42 km van Nima Sand Museum. There is a beach near the hotel and friendly staff

Onsen Guest House Aobato no Su biedt accommodatie met overal gratis WiFi in Matsue, op een steenworp afstand van Tamatsukuri Onsen. Er is gratis privéparkeergelegenheid bij de accommodatie. Great little onsen ryokan. Very nice lounge and they provide yukatas. Staff was exceptional, there was an elderly man who was manning the counter at night and he does samisen and Japanese folk performances every now and then. Was blessed to have witnessed a short performance by him. Would definitely recommend. Hots springs were excellent. Not too hot and perfect to soak in after a long day. Stayed in the super single room which was basically just a bed and some space. Was perfect as I didn't carry much luggage, but for those who have large trolley bags this is not the room for you.
