We have never experienced this kind of luxury in our lives….. this place and environment totally blew our minds! We had te luxury to stay in the villa, and exceeded all our expectations. The views, the pool, the sauna, the hotspring tub, the fireplace, the BBQ… it was more than enough to really end our holiday totally relaxed! We were supposed to go to Tokyo the last 3 days of our holiday, but we where glad that we canceled that, and went to Shikuoka instead! The falls and wasabi fields and hikes nearby were great excursions, and then come back to the villa was a real dream! Also there were no other guests, so we had the whole place for ourselves…. Blessed🙏🏻 greets from oranda (the Netherlands)

This will be the easiest review I'll ever write as the experience was truly flawless and made so memorable by the team there. The staff were incredibly thoughtful; once they found out it was my husband's birthday, they not only gave us the option to upgrade our room at no extra expense, but they placed flowers and a handwritten card in the living room, gave us a birthday cake after dinner and offered us a complimentary drink of our choice. We felt so showered with love, they really went above and beyond! The hotel manager very kindly picked us up from the train station, and we could communicate through Google Translate during the short ride. They also had staff that spoke mandarin which was helpful. The room was spacious with modern touches and had a stunning garden view. The private onsen made the stay relaxing and came with high-end toiletries. Plus, the fridge was filled with different complimentary drinks like beer, tea and soda. We were happy to be provided with all the traditional loungewear that could be worn to the restaurant after a good day of soaking - plus the little guide which teaches you how to tie it properly. As someone who loves to sleep in total darkness, I really appreciated that the room had great blackout curtains and none of those annoying little flashing lights from the smoke detector, TV or aircon. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were by far the best food we had during our entire trip (including previous trips to Japan!) Not only was every dish meticulously plated, but every bite was heavenly; it could have been Michelin-star dining. We were more than satisfied with the portions; they even wrapped some leftovers into rice balls for us to enjoy later. Last but not least, I must commend the staff because we also left our disposable camera upon departure, and they kindly shipped it to our next hotel at no extra fee. This level of customer service is unmatched and made our stay worth every penny.

Probably the best hotel we ever stayed in. Outstanding view, staff goes above and beyond and the food was such high quality & beautifully arranged! We had breakfast and dinner (Kaiseki) twice and both was plenty (dinner around 7 courses?). We advise on coming hungry!

Its a good location for a quiet, relaxing holiday in a small town. We stayed over the weekend, its easy to take the train to other towns (although it doesnt go that frequently). The nearby Hokkawa onsen (Kurone iwaburo) has to be one of our favorite onsens we have visited, with the bath facing out to the sea, really recommend a visit!! The owner of the guesthous is very sweet and made sure we were comfortable during our stay. Will definitely come back!

The hotel offers tea and other self serve drinks until late at night. Also, there are icy fruit bars that you could enjoy even late at night. In addition, there are plenty of places to take photos. Onsen is not busy and usually only 3-4 people. Both dinner and breakfast have a lot of varieties.

It's authenticity, true comfort, the private onsen on, and crashing sea below, my terrace and the delicious food were remarkable.... This is magic if you're seeking extraordinary Japanese kaiseki combined with a genuine, absolutely comfortable, beautifully clean, welcoming experience of rural Japan by the sea. (Make sure to confirm you have a private toilet, if you want one....)

The ryokan is located in a quaint little onsen town, quite like how quiet it gets. The large variety of onsens available on site were excellent, room was very comfortable, view of the sea was great.

The facilities were excellent, the staff efficient, courteous and helpful. The ocean view from the room and the onsen or hot springs bath was great. The variety and quality of meat, fish and vegetables offered at dinner and breakfast buffet were excellent.

It was such a fantastic experience - wonderful early breakfast (fish, rice, green tea, salad, other little things and nibbles), outdoor and indoor hot spring baths, clean futon beds, quiet neighbours, free parking and nice restaurants around. Highly recommend staying there if you want to escape busy city life. It’s a very calm and peaceful place! Would love to stay there again, 10/10 :)

Wonderful ryokan with private onsen and delicious kaiseki dinner. Staff was very friendly. Pickup from train station and drop off at the same station was very convenient. Highly recommend. I would stay longer if I could.

The food was excellent with very impressive presentations. We had half-board and the latest breakfast serving was at 8:30, the latest dinner at 18:30. Not much happening in the evening, although the onsens were great. It felt like a spa-resort more than a bustling hotel, but we enjoyed it. We had a traditional room with futons and a lovely sea-view. It was simple but comfortable and clean.

This was only our second ryokan experience, so we don't really have a reference for comparison. However, we could barely find any fault with this one. The room was beautiful, spacious and well equipped, as were both onsens. Dinner was delicious, staff was professional and spoke enough English. I definitely recommend taking the dinner option, and coming on time (before 6pm).

Excellent location, easy to get to from the station. It’s a beautiful ryokan. Onsen with views of the ocean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It was quiet even though my room was facing the main road. Both breakfast and dinner was excellent. They had a great selection of nihonshu. The staff were well versed in their knowledge of nihonshu and recommended a few to try with my dinner.

Very authentic experience in a traditional but original Ryokan. The futon was very comfortable and the room spacious. The onsen was pleasant and spacious, including an outside bath. The price was fair and convenient. Overall we recommend this place.

Amazing Ryokan - a very large selection of beautiful onsen's open to any guest in the room - there was one in particular that was exceptionally pretty. Staff were extremely nice and attentive. Wonderful place to stay for a short retreat from the city.

To start with, the room was really big, with a nice (limited) seaside view, and the public onsen was as you should expect from a proper Japanese onsen hotel. Private onsens available, alongside a scenic cave, and the usual entertainment you would find in a ryokan or similar. Free parking and free WiFi, plus decent breakfast, and impeccable service from staff. All at a very sensible price.
