Takasagoya Ryokan offers a public bath, as well as air-conditioned accommodation in Zao Onsen, 200 metres from Zao Onsen Ski Resort. There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. The ryokan features family rooms. Warmest accommodations I’ve ever received. I loved every aspect of the place - sleeping, living, dining, showering, onsen, accessibility to the slopes. This is a beautiful place! The owners were very nice and they were very forgiving of our mistakes and helped out with our request.

The ryokan offers soothing natural hot spring bath in natural stone tubs and an open-air hot springs bath. A shared lounge features a tatami (woven-straw) floor and view of a Japanese garden. The ryokan also offers free use of bicycles. This place is a wonder. The staff is great, and exceeded my expectations with their service. This hotel has an Onsen, which can be problematic for people with tattoos, but the staff made sure that I can go in and use the Onsen anyways, just had to make sure it was empty beforehand. I would highly recommend staying at this place while visiting Yamagata

Both Japanese-style rooms with tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding or Western-style rooms with beds are available. Each room comes with a flat-screen satellite TV, a fridge and an electric kettle with green tea bags. Japanese Yukata robes are provided for all guests. Staff is sooo friendly and helpful with everything. There is shuttles to the station every 20minutes and the rooms are so spacious and clean and with attention to detail - we loved it. The outside Onsen is beautiful and tattoo friendly.

Located just 24 km from Kamo Aquarium, Tamonkan features accommodation in Tsuruoka with access to a garden, a terrace, as well as a concierge service. This ryokan offers free private parking and luggage storage space. The accommodation provides a hot tub, free WiFi throughout the property and family rooms. This was my second stay at Tamonkan. We rarely return to the same hotel, even if we had a good experience, but we’d happily come back to Tamonkan every year! This time, we rented a car, which made it even more convenient to explore the beautiful mountains and nearby cities. Tamonkan also offers free parking right across from the ryokan. The owners are incredibly kind and are always happy to provide information and recommendations for local attractions and shops where you can buy regional products. And, of course, the breakfast and dinner are super healthy, fresh, and delicious. We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights, and although the ryokan was fully booked on some nights, it was always quiet and relaxing. I never had to share the spacious, comfortable bath and shower room with any other guests. I really enjoyed my stay and felt truly relaxed. See you again next year!

The food was also brilliant, I also used their sauna room which was very nice too and very reasonably priced. Overall, wonderful for the price.
