The Mango guest house was an incredible and authentic experience in Elephantine Island. The staff, the facilities and the settings were fantastic. The staff arranged everything what we asked for: a car from Luxor, a trip to Abu Simbel, food delivery and a felucca sailing trip. It’s not for everybody, though. If you’re a 5-star hotel frequent visitor, this is not for you.

The guest house has private entrance. Abu is helpful and very diligent Egyption YOUNG guy(not by his age), he do help us a lot for the trip, and information. He has a really lovely personality and really care about everyone a lot. It's like if you want to interact with local people but not only see the touristy places and leave, You guys must be here! Very very good cultural experience! I just feel so pity like we stay here for only one night and speak to our landlord only two times. Crying!!!!! Cry!!!!

Mohamed was a truly outstanding host, and he made my time in Abu Simbel extraordinarily memorable. He answered every question I had and went above and beyond to make arrangements for me. One of the best hosts I’ve ever had anywhere.

Terrace view was perfect, car transfers were arranged even though we arrived past midnight. We have large luggages which Mohammed arranged for guys to carry for us from the Jetty to the homestay, that helped as there were many stairs. Before/After crossing the river though, you may have to figure out how to carry up the rest of the stairs on your own. Just a point to note as no review mentioned this. Still, overall experience was great!

Wonderful and breathtaking view of the Nile, a nice green territory with a pool, a spacious clean room, good breakfast, buffet or a la carte lunch is also available (for extra price), very friendly stuff at the reception. Not far from the Nubian Museum, Unfinished Obelisk and 15 min walk to the Corniche of Aswan, where you can experience an amazing felucca ride. The hotel kindly arranged for us 2 trips to Abu Simbel and to Luxor with three stops at Kom Ombo, Edfu and Esna temples with the private driver Mario. Mario is a super nice, English speaking, professional, confident and careful driver, he had a new, clean and comfortable car. Mario made our trips perfect, unforgettable and memorable. We had an interesting chat with him about Egypt, history and sights during our trip. We would recommend Mario and Basma Hotel to our friends!

The location on the island with a view on the nile and the city in the back is just incredible. Without the sounds of cars and the usual late opened businesses it feels like an oasis within a city and so different than the rest of egypt. While a short ferry ride away the busy city of Aswan awaits with all its sights, the breakfast on the terasse with feluccas passing by on the river is reason alone to come here. We felt very welcome by the local nubian people and could experience their way of life as we felt like guests of the whole village. Especially Reko way an excellent host, who organized many trips for us and made sure we had everything we need. The guesthouse even had a kitchen and a little shop next doors, but there are many restaurants on the island with good food so you probably won't need to cook. This place is the perfect base to explore the south of egypt while also just relaxing on tbe nile.
