Portezuelo del Viento was a perfect hostel to stay at after the base camp trek to Aconcagua. The staff are super friendly and made us feel at home from the start. I would recommend staying for as long as you can on your trip, as there are lots of treks to do around the hostel, which the staff which gladly help you plan. Intersting place! Kept all promises. Location perfect: Close to Aconcagua national park and other interesting places to see. If you need practical place to overnight, not looking for anything fancy this is it.

The host was extremely helpful, messaging with me until 11pm in the evening to assist me with deciding what hike to do the next day. They were very responsive on whatsapp when we had questions or our plans changed. Make sure you read the emails beforehand :) - we missed the crucial one that said sheets not included, but the host managed to help us out last minute. Very quiet hotel and surrounding area (but we were there in summer, might be a bit busier in winter for skiing). It is about a 10-15min drive from Aconcagua park entrance and we had a rental car so the location was good for us.

The location was amazing, with mountains all around! Johana who works there was so friendly and cooks very well and taught me how to play an Argentine card game with cards I had never seen until then and there. And Mishi the cat is very sweet too! And met interesting travelers there.
