It’s newly renovated, modern interior yet the original skeleton of the property remains, such as the beautiful wooden beams. The lounge, and dining area are social, and it was lovely to meet other guests. I stayed in the dorm for a week, and it’s multi gender but that’s okay. The cubbies are all very comfortable, spacious enough for me as I’m only 5’2. Mattress, pillow and duvet are so warm and cozy. There’s even a mini tv in each space! The amenities are excellent, toiletries are all provided, I was able to do some laundry as well, after a week of snowboarding. The staff are all exceptional, so kind, so caring, respectful and happy demeanour. What a thriving place to be. The staff sometimes cooked me dinners when I came back late, and were happy to hang out with their guests. You won’t regret staying here!

All meals were prepared by the host Toshi-san and his wife. Every bit was made with love and care. My partner and I fortunately found one restaurant the first night that was taking walk ins and even then waited a hour to be sat. If you plan on going to Hakuba for ski season, book your restaurants in advance. This is critical as most places are too booked out or busy to take walk ins. Lucky for us, Toshi-san had space for two for dinner the second night, and that dinner was lovely. Many small dishes all delicious and made with love. Would highly recommend just eating at Toshi-san’s house if you want Japanese-style meals for an affordable price. While there are good meals in town, it is a bit of a walk and you will get turned away without a reservation. This “hotel” is more like a large renovated house to accommodate people. Toshi-san is such a wonderful and kind person. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone that wants a stay in Hakuba. He doesn’t speak English that well but I got by with what I knew and with a smartphone. He gave us a ride to the station on our way out and a ride to his partnered gear rental service to help us get ski gear. Overall ambiance, hospitality, and service was 10/10. Conventional hotels can’t compare. Hopefully my next trip to Japan and skiing in Hakuba if ever again, I will be staying here.

We had lots of helpful communication from Tetsu before leaving Australia about how to travel from Haneda to Hakuba. The cottage was very cozy and clean. The beds were comfy. The location was great as we could walk into Echoland main street in 5 mins to bus stops for skiing and restaurants/ rental shops etc. Reception was super helpful and friendly if we needed any information/taxi booking for the onsen spa etc.

Hakuba Tokyu Hotel is an 8-minute drive from JR Hakuba Station and a 3-minute drive from Happo-One Bus Terminal. A free 2-way shuttle to both destinations is provided upon prior reservation.

The Standard Twin was spacious enough to fully open two medium size luggage. It has also a basin where you can brush your teeth in the room without the need to head out. The floors are also heated and you can adjust the temperature. The toilets were well maintain even though it is shared. The most unexpected feature that we enjoy most of our stay is the onsite onsen. They have two private onsen of different size. They have an onsite dry room for shoes/gloves as well as your ski/SB equipment. It is located a short 2 min walk to the main echoland street where they are plenty of good food. The only thing you wish for after a long day of ski/sb is to find food nearby. The main street has everything from ski/sb rental to convenience store and food. There are also free shuttle bus to various ski resorts within 2 mins walk from the accommodation. This hotel has discount cards for both the ski/sb equipment rental and ski passes for selected stores/ski resorts.
