What a wonderful way to look back and understand the culture of the day (400 BC) in beautiful Matera. MOYΣEION recreates the experience with the design of the hotel, the people, food, pool, furniture, architecture, right down to the dinner plates, cups and cutlery. The staff are all trained in the fields they love - like archaeology and share the journey. They also demonstrate beautiful music using instruments of the day. It's incredible. On top of this, the chef does an amazing modern interpretation of food from 400BC. It is all very cool. It is totally worth going with the flow and fully embracing and immersing yourself in the experience. We did, and we were rewarded for it. Finally, the staff are exceptional. So kind and attentive. They make it perfect.

The location is perfect, right in the historic center. You can drive up to Duomo Square to drop off your luggage, and then park in one of the nearby garages. We loved the luxury feel of the hotel and it was an amazing base for a few days to explore Matera. The staff were exceptional, especially Dino and Mary. Breakfast was superb. The spa was stunning. To stay in a cave hotel was really unique and this one was so beautifully designed. Thanks for a great stay.

The spa was amazing and very relaxing after a day walking around the Sassi. The rooms were really unique, spacious, and cool with comfortable beds. We had a very nice jacuzzi bath with coloured lighting and also in the shower. We stayed in the dependence suite but it wasn't onerous to walk the short distance for breakfast which was very nice too.
