The private onsen is very impressive. I got lost because my GPS doesn't work and I got there late at night. Fortunately, I brought the phone number and the name of the hotel in Japanese. The owner is so nice to come to pick me up and take me to the hotel safely.

For breakfast we had a delicious vegan curry for breakfast! The hotel lies nearby bus stops for easy access to the train station, or a day trip to Yufuin.

The staff members were very gracious, the meals were amazing, and the accommodations were beautiful and comfortable. We loved our private onsen. We can't rave enough about Ryokan Fukinoya, definitely a highlight of our trip!

From the time we arrived we were welcomed greatly and was greeted by staff in our native language which took us by surprise. Apparently there are many staff versed in different languages to assist guests from around the world. I was impressed. The room was huge and the amenities were all there, it did not lack anything. I loved that they provided a rubber duck for the kids to play with in the private bath area. The view from our room was great - overlooking the steamy scenery of Beppu. I loved the private bath, we got an indoor and outdoor one, though the outdoor one is very dark at night since there were no lighting probably around the bath probably to protect privacy. The food served for breakfast and dinner were decent. We liked the teppanyaki dinner and the kids meals were delicious.

The breakfast and dinner were both great and affordable. They even had a string quartet playing over dinner which was cool.

Facilities were outstanding for the price—an onsen open until late at night, a 24-hour gym, and a rooftop pool with breathtaking views. The highlight was the jacuzzi facing Beppu Bay, which would have been perfect if it had been working. The location is also excellent, just a five-minute walk from Beppu Station, with a large Lawson nearby and a famous tempura restaurant right across the street.
