Free WiFi is available at the entire property and JR Shibukawa Train Station is a 15-minute drive away. Oyado Tamaki is the perfect cozy getaway, with a welcoming atmosphere and staff who attend to every detail. From the warm greeting with yuzu tea to their helpfulness throughout our stay, the service was impeccable (5/5). Our “Kaede” room had a semi-open-air bath that was incredibly relaxing after a day of exploring. The ambiance is peaceful—especially in the lounge and courtyard—and the ryokan itself beautifully balances traditional Japanese hospitality with modern touches. There were some live Japanese beetles on display (in clearly marked glass jars) near the front desk and, even though the whole stay was great, that was a true unexpected treasure for me! We’ll definitely be returning for the exceptional hospitality and cozy vibe!

We booked the room with a private onsen for our honeymoon. We arrived with our rental car and were greeted by the valet whom parked our car. We were then seated to a separate table where a lady (who I assumed is the manager) talked a bit of English and explained the rules (onsens) and times (breakfast and dinner). She then walked us through our room (no elevators btw). The room was a beautiful traditional Japanese Ryokan. It is right next to the flowing river. I wouldn't recommend opening the window though due to the insects. The bathroom is very nice and the shower is outdoors next to the private onsen. The beds on the tatami will be set up for you while you are having dinner. The dinners and breakfasts were delicious and yes very exotic (horse/deer sashimi, boar soup and tiny deep fried crabs). The flavours and portions were abundant. The lovely and friendly lady that served us for dinner explained everything very well and she was a happy personality. Overall, I loved the whole traditional experience and felt very relaxed throughout the stay. Definitely recommend if you are coming here to unwind and eat delicious food.

Perfect location, very clean flat, very comfortable - we spent a really nice evening in town and enjoyed the festival. The appartment is adorable and the owner was extremely friendly - as were the people in town. It was a memorable stay!
The food was really good and the meals were large, so worth the price. The room was beautiful and clean, and staff were kind and helpful. The bath locations and temperature had variation, to meet all kinds of needs. Location itself was beautiful as well and the locals were friendly, definitely recommend walking around. There is a small town, dam, and a beautiful lake upstream of the river as well as a couple small shrines along the way.
Good location. Low price.
Great river view and location at the riverside of Tone River.
Breakfast and dinner is exceptional - serving all local specialties. Location - slightly uphill for the main street but they have the secret pathway from hotel direct to Yubatake which is perfect and a short walk to Sai-no Kawara park. Perfect place for the day walk around Kusatsu.

Location
last minute booking, all of the hotel at kusatsu onsen are fully booked, I did not expect much. However the hotel end up quite good. Spacious room especially for the 3 bed room. The bed come with heated blanket. Free wifi but nowadays all hotel have free wifi. Good location, hotel located in between Bus station and yubatake (city center)
The location is very nice, not to far away from the center of Kusatsu Onsen. It is perfect for people travelling on a budget. The beds are quite confortable.
The staff were wonderful. The location was close to the bus station and not a long walk to the city centre. The private onsen was the best.
