Popular small mountain resort.

Popular small mountain resort. Several small waterfalls in the area and accessible in different ways. Open top jeeps are popular, but it can be done walking as well (10 km round trip). There are plenty restaurants (and shops) in the centre, but it is a little crowded. Penedo is about 30 min drive from Itatiaia national park where there are there more hiking possibilities. (car needed)

Penedo is a small town that thrives on tourism.

Penedo is a small town that thrives on tourism. It has a place called "Little Finland" which features restaurants, shops, and Santa Claus's house – a place I recommend visiting. The town also offers many restaurants and waterfall excursions. Because of its small size, getting around is very easy and parking is inexpensive, quite unlike in larger cities.

A great city for relaxing, it has waterfalls and peaks that can be seen in two days at a good pace. The town center is quite pretty with good options for eating, from the simplest to the most sophisticated.

The city is very clean, everything is very close, including shops, restaurants, and waterfalls. Parking is not expensive, but the civil guard and police could have been more proactive with the troublemakers on motorcycles, who caused danger and a lot of noise in the downtown streets.

Penedo offers numerous gastronomic and lodging options. As for the "natural" tourist attractions, I believe they are more suitable for those under 50. We, over 75, although still in good shape for our age, have little opportunity to enjoy them.

Penedo is simply enchanting!

Penedo is simply enchanting! My wife and I loved every detail: the charming little town center with its welcoming shops, the refreshing waterfalls, the trails that connect us with nature, and the lush forests that make the trip even more special. It's a destination that combines tranquility, natural beauty, and a unique atmosphere. We loved it!

Our stay was amazing!!! Very spacious comfortable room, delicious breakfast including home made cakes and fresh prepared eggs and the owner is so so so friendly, funny and warming! We asked him to find a guide to climb the agulhas negras mountain, which he arranged in a split second for us. The hotel was nicely located with an amazing view. We can highly recommend this amazing place and its passionated owner!
