The area is beautiful, out in the "wilderness", but there is a cute town only 10 minutes away with restaurants. The kitchen was very well equipped, the showers had hot water. The room was cozy and spacious, warm as well, with a nice view. We saw aurora perfectly from here. The check in process was also extremely smooth. I would definitely stay here again!

Located in the northern Iceland coastal village of Saudárkrókur, this property is 90 minutes’ drive from central Akureyri. It offers free Wi-Fi, an on-site bar and an outdoor geothermal hot tub. This is an annexe attached to the oldest hotel in town. We had the biggest room and a view as well. There was heaps of space for our bags and cold weather gear. (We had a lot) Breakfast was very good, in a basement dining room that was decorated with heaps of memorabillia. There was a private natural hot spring in the grounds that was nice and hot. Staff were lovely and did our washing for us.
