We had to reschedule our arrival on short notice due to airport strike, Roberto reacted very quickly and still came to pick us up in the midnight! The house is near the airport, only 10 min walk (there's sidewalk and even with small kid there's no problem). The neighborhood safe and quiet. The house has a nice terasse. The rooms are small but clean and functional. The bed is comfortable and we slept well. Roberto is always reachable via WhatsApp, we felt extremely welcome. Highly recommended!!

I loved the historic architecture around Via Etnea where I was staying at Etna Suites Group. The food options were everywhere, shopping at all financial levels, and the city was made for pedestrians first and cars second. Don't get a car! You can walk everywhere you want to go and the walk will be exciting and fun. I never felt scared or worried about my safety day or night. I got a tour of Etna that picked me up from my hotel and drove me all the way up and dropped me back off where I started. Awesome awesome city.
The main reason for staying was to visit Mount Etna and to look around Catania as part of a trip that took in Palermo, Catania and Taormina. It was only 24 hours but our accommodation at B&B La Cupola certainly made the journey worthwhile. The city was a safe environment to walk around and the food was excellent. Do consider using the rail system as it worked well for us transferring from West to East.
I've dined at Al Vicolo Pizza&Vino and sampled other restaurants, but none compare to Al Vicolo—it's truly the best! As for Catania, it's not a city I'd recommend visiting. It's incredibly crowded, impoverished, and the air quality leaves much to be desired. Getting around isn't easy either. However, if you venture to Siracusa or any nearby area, you'll gain a completely different perspective on Sicily.
It is interesting place to visit. There is sightsenig at least for one day. Lots of places where you can eat. Fish market and also big market with everything from clothes and similar articals. It is easy to get on the bus in central bus station in the center.
The historical center of Catania; nice and relatively well maintained, with the Cathedral and the elephant fountain. The renowned fish market; a bit chaotic and not well maintained. Strolling through via dei Crociferi to enjoying the beautiful Sicilian baroque architecture. Finally relaxing a bit at the villa Bellini. Excursion to the Etna, not to be missed!
Catania - it's up to the part of the city. City center and port are not very astonishing, building in reconstruction, closed shops and trash on the street, especially during easter holidays when many places were closed. The parks and monuments ok, good location for excursions to Etna, Taormina, Siracusa and not far from the airport. Nice restaurants, good food but not all options for breakfast were open. We got to the beach by bus as it seemd to be impossible on foot due to industrial and port area.
