Lovely, friendly hotel in the perfect location for exploring all of Weissenkirchen on foot. Would also be a great base for bicycle touring. There are many Heuriger and restaurants within a short walk of the hotel. The lovely hotel owners were always on site and provided a generous and delicious breakfast. The staff at this hotel was phenomenally attentive -- especially Isabel, who took great care of us. It is in the heart of Duernstein and it is certainly worth the splurge. The rooms were very large and the views were fantastic. I was originally worried about parking, but they had plenty of room for it. We had some rain on our first day and so the indoor pool was a huge hit with the kids. Definitely would stay here again.

Bioweingut Schmidl is in a very peaceful location but also very close to downtown Durnstein. The rooms are very large, comfortable and clean. The host, Theresa, was very friendly and accommodating. You can sit on the terrace and enjoy the views of the vineyards and the castle - it's amazing. We also tasted their wine and it was excellent as well as their breakfast. We just wish we had stayed longer.
