Beautifully refinished historic hotel in downtown Queenstown was a great find. Our room was large and even came with a gas fired fireplace. Ralph is an excellent host. He very graciously provided our breakfast at 6:30 am as we needed to travel to Strahan to catch a tour.
Located less than 10 minutes’ walk from the center of town, Mountain View Motel provides free BBQ facilities and rooms with a microwave and refrigerator. Free parking is available on site.

Have to wait a couple more years to get the train going through to Strahan again . This will be the highlight of the area. Had a great meal at the Empire hotel. We did the paranormal tour of the old hospital, bit overpriced for what you get, still not convinced of the presence of spirits though.

Queenstown is a fabulous place to visit.
Queenstown is a fabulous place to visit. There's a lot to see, some great walks, and the people are really friendly and helpful. It's an old mining town surrounded by spectacular mountains and you'll need more than a few days to fully appreciate what it has to offer. We were there for 4 days during the Unconformity Festival held biannually in October but wished we had longer. The weather was fabulous for the first 2 days and then it rained, which is quite common in this area but shouldn't put anyone off visiting. One of our favourite places to eat was JJ's where we had delicious homemade vegetable soup and absolutely delectable bread and butter pudding! The Gallery Museum was also a highlight with its wonderful mining history display. Even just walking around the streets is a treat. This quirky town should be on everyone's itinerary when visiting Tasmania - but don't forget your raincoat.

Queenstown has lost most of its population.
Queenstown has lost most of its population. There are many vacant storefronts on Main Street. We enjoyed our overnight stay but found no reason to stay longer. I hope they find a way to revitalize their town! Nice people and great food at our hotel.

I met the most friendly and helpful people in Queenstown.
I met the most friendly and helpful people in Queenstown. I was disappointed the train wasn't running, due to maintenance. Without the train, l spent my time visiting art places and the museum. I also looked at iron bluff and the waterfall. Throughly enjoyed lots of coffee at MoonScape.
We had a wonderful stay at Hunters Hotel. The rooms and bathrooms were exceptionally clean and well-kept. Everything had been thought of, from bathrobes and slippers, to wifi and welcome chocolates. Ralph and his wife were the most attentive and lovely hosts. They even prepared the breaky buffet earlier than usual because we had an early departure. Would recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in the area!
Queenstown motel. Excellent 1 night stay in the western Tasmanian district. Was taking the Strahan cruise the next morning and needed a 2 bed facility for the night before. Absolutely what we needed. clean. Supportive staff. Parked right out side the room door. Good kitchen. Good shower. Sleep well. No noise. Easily would stay again
Lovely building with interesting history- lovely views, gorgeous gardens, surrounded by greenery. Friendly professional hosts. Great attention to detail. Great little self contained guest kitchen. Fabulous breakfast and focus on high quality, tasmanian sourced products. Homemade gluten free sugar free fruitcake on arrival.
The historic nature of the accommodation was lovely. The host was fabulous as was breakfast. The en-suited room was quaint yet modern with a nice combo of old and new. Quiet and great for a night or two. An awful lot cheaper than Strahan which seems overpriced for what and where it is given how close Queenstown is.
The location is close to everything in Queenstown and was an easy drive from Strahan. Cheap if you are looking for budget accommodation. At first glance the rooms look pleasant and must have been done up semi-recently.
had breakfast at local Puffing train station.. nice and museum historial at Impireal Hotel was brilliant
And also we were running very late to arrive hotel and glad to find keys are waiting for us ..
The room with verandah sitting room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Had a bar fridge and new bathroom. The host was personable and his efforts in restoring an old hotel are commendable .
It didn’t feel like any other cheap hotel. Rather, it had a very homely feel. Nicely furnished. Very clean. Decent sized fridge. Within short walking distance to pubs and cafes.
Beautiful historic hotel overlooking Queenstown. Warm owners who spent considerable time welcoming us; always approachable for advice and good conversation. Yummy breakfast.
There was convenient parking and wifi worked in the hotel foyer. The attached restaurant served standard pub food. The room was warm (temperature outside was quite cool).
The staff the magnificent dinner and the room. A fantastic location and would absolutely recommend this hotel for a stay and do yourself a favor and eat at the restaurant.
Very central location, with a simple but very tasty breakfast.
Host was very forthcoming with information on other sites we could see in and around the Queenstown area
