Known for its international diplomacy, Geneva is the gateway city to the Swiss Alps and contains many international organisations that lend the lake-side city a cosmopolitan flair. It is filled with the best in cuisine, diverse languages and people, and top 5-star hotels.
It's easy to fly in to Geneva Airport, and like the rest of Switzerland, the public transport system is incredibly efficient. And the antique shops and steep, cobbled streets of the Old Town can be explored by foot or bicycle.
Many of the sights are monumental buildings such as the St Pierre Cathedral, but you can escape the chilly winters inside museums and galleries displaying everything from the Renaissance to the Contemporary.
Even if getting out into the wilderness of the Swiss Alps isn’t an option, there’s plenty of nature accessible within the city limits. Parc des Bastions offers tree-lined walks and a game of giant chess and Parc de la Grange is a green space situated on the Lake Geneva promenade. Jet d'Eau, a 140-metre high fountain in the centre of Lake Geneva is beautifully lit at night.
With over 90 hotels available, Booking.com ensures that whether you are travelling for business or pleasure you can experience the best accommodations Geneva has to offer.
One night is generally enough. Our main interest was the CERN laboratory, which is easily reachable by tram, with travel passes included in the hotel room price. We also had time for a leisurely boat tour of the lake and a visit to the archaelogical site, though we didn't visit the museums, which are also siad to be very good.

It is a quite small city that you can walk almost everywhere historical or popular. public transportation is easy to use and you can go almost everywhere with it. there are nice restaurants and galleries to visit and some museums. if you want to get away for a long weekend and spend quite time Geneva is an alternative. Don't forget to visit close towns by the lake both in Geneva and France, they are very enjoyable and view worth travelling for one or two hours.
Definitely bother to climb the stairs of the cathedral, the view is mesmerizing.

Very beautiful city, loved the lake and the stroll in the city center. Botanical gardnen is lovely and so is the mini zoo and sites in Bois de Batie. It is quite expensive and while people are lovely, you can run into those weithers who understand English but refuse to speak it I only read about in the reviews of sites in France.

Carouge is a unique and super nice district! Enjoyed the cafés, the small stores, the artisanal vibe, art where you look.
Great tramways, bus system - easy to get around. Next time by bike.
The city has lots to offer beside jet d’eau - of course the common chains but check out the area around WHO and Red Cross museum.

A nice city, but it feels like a lot could be seen in little time. I stayed for 2 days and it seemed enough.
The lake is nice, and I like the diversity of restaurants there. A lot of rare birds for France, but handfed by the public, which isn't nice. Public transportation is easliy accessible and it was very nice to get a free illimitated pass even to the boat buses (given by most of the hotels)!
There is also a small open air iceskating ring, a lovely park by the lake and virtual reality experience.
We did walk past a man searching for a fight around 8PM (he was obviously drunk and told us to call the cops, and we had just walked past 3 frightening guys, not so far from the center), and we also saw a cyclist inconscious on the pavement by day with a huge injury on the head... Not feeling really safe there ^^;

Geneva is like a condensed version of Manchester: big buildings, great transport infrastructure, and welcoming people. It is extremely expensive though - 3-4x as much as London, which shocked me.
However it is a bit grotty near the train station (where all the best ethnic food is typically), and I didn't feel totally safe. Interestingly, the RLD felt relatively safe because it was so busy with tourists ogling and locals going about their business. You do get approached by prostitutes but they're friendly enough when you say no so it wasn't anything that made me feel uncomfortable etc.
The parks and gardens are outstanding. I also enjoyed the reptile house near the airport. The coffee and snacks at Boreal are fantastic and they cater for dietary requirements and speak fluent English too, so I spent a lot of time there.
With all this said, Geneva is worthy of a short weekend city break or enjoying a long layover in, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay there for longer.
The staff team at Hotel Angleterre is outstanding! So professional, attentive, courteous ensuring visitors enjoy a fabulous 5* experience in keeping with the ambience of this superb waterfront hotel. The rooms are huge, impeccable and tastefully decorated with ‘turn down’ service. Breakfast was a delicious feast offering the best of Switzerland, while enjoying the wonderful vista of Mont Blanc, Geneva & the Lake. What a find! We simply can’t wait to return. Huge thanks to all the staff for such a fantastic stay!
We liked the tiny house/capsule hotel vibe at Citizen M Geneva. The room was small but really well thought out. The space was used effectively and there was plenty of storage spaces. Everything was nice and clean and modern. We loved the view of Lake Geneva from our bedroom window! The bed was very comfortable. The location is very good. It’s only a very short walk to Lake Geneva and the city centre.
We went to Switzerland to watch our daughter compete in the World Championship and after we had a couple days to enjoy ourselves. We booked an Airbnb that was awful and quickly jumped on Booking.com and found this place. It was amazing. A large ray of light after abandoning the Airbnb. Clean, staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was delicious. And location was wonderful. I highly recommend it
Everything was super good :) The location of this hotel was superb. (It's located right in front of the Geneva main station.) And it was very accessible to public transportation like tram or bus. Obviously the room was perfectly clean and cozy as well as every staff i met there was very kind. I highly recommend this place to you if you have plan to visit Geneva, Switzerland.
The value I got from my room at Astoria exceeded my expectations given its price range for Geneva standards. The room was clean, warm and kinda cozy. Staff was friendly and helpful. Bonus points for the water boiler with black tea, earl gray and verbena. Even more bonus points for the britannia pub, adjacent to the hotel, which also had friendly staff and really good food!
The hotel was a good choice ! It is literally located next to the train station and just a few minutes away from the airport, where you can go by the freeshuttle provided by the hotel. By taking the train, you are only 10 minutes away from the center of Geneva. The room was very large and clean. The breakfast included many options and it was very tasty.
We really enjoyed our stay at Nash Suites Hotel. The beds were comfortable and the shower was great. There was a coffee machine and a fridge which was very useful. Best of all there was air conditioning. It felt like a very luxurious break and I wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely stay there next time we are in Geneva.
We love this charming hotel, lovely spacious rooms, excellent beds but above all outstanding service and kind staff. They did their best to accommodate our late arrival, kept a table for us at the restaurant past 10 pm, prepared early breakfast, all with a smile. We came back and will be back every time we will pass through Geneva.
The location is perfect, clean hotel , friendly staff.
The staff can speak French and English very fluently.
The location is PERFECT, near to the main train station .
If you are tourist get the free transport card from reception, the bus station in just at door step of the hotel , free you can go around Geneva from the hotel .
The hotel was a few minutes from everything. The bus stop was 1 min walk from the hotel. The tram was a 5 min walk. The hotel had a bar that would give you the basic drinks. The bus pass was the best thing. I was able to see everything I wanted to see in the time I was there. That saved me money, Switzerland is expensive.
- very clean and comfortable studios
- Lidl right next to the hotel to easily stock up your fridge
- easily connected to airport and city centre via free bus rides (the hotel will give you a transportation card to use all of geneva public transport for free during your stay)
- very welcoming hotel staff
Well located near airport, easy to find shuttle to hotel, and right outside the hotel is a bus stop into central Geneva. Staff were very helpful. Loved the espresso machine in the room. Black out drapes, good bed, just the place to spend a night before connecting to a flight somewhere else.
Staff were super friendly and helpful, which is a huge relief as first time visitors to Switzerland with limited French/ German speaking. We used the hotel as a base to explore Geneva - a short ride down to the river and walked back.
I like the friendly staff who is always willing to help me leave my main luggage until I return from my short trips. It’s a very safe place to keep your luggage and travel around Switzerland or any other close destinations
The hotel location is AMAZING! Near the train/bus station. Near lake Geneva and in heart of town. Starbucks and restaurants all around the hotel i will definetly make it my go to hotel if i visited Geneva again!
The arrangement of checking in and out was great. Everything was perfect. And the room price too. It was based on honesty and correctness. That's how people in Switzerland we trust with each other.
Everything was perfect . Clean , aesthetically pleasing .
The restaurant chef and waitress were amazing.
Ate our best meal in Switzerland in the restaurant. Highly recommend it .
Very nice hotel. Breakfast delivered to the room which was a bonus. Central location in Geneva a few minutes from the train station. Staff very friendly.
