While I only had the chance to stay one night at the Los Cielos del Caribe hotel in Cahuita, Limon, it was a stay I truly enjoyed and won’t soon forget. The property is absolutely gorgeous and the owner and host, Tristam, made the stay all that much better. Situated on a hill in a lovely town, this hotel is a newer build with quality in mind. My 2-story room with king size bed was perfect – the AC worked great, the bed and linens were luxurious, the kitchen had everything I needed, and the view was just unbeatable. Plus, if you are a fan of nature, the location doesn’t get any better. There is a path to walk up to a lookout point at the top of the hill where you can enjoy a morning coffee while listening and watching the groups of howler monkeys – much closer here than anywhere else I visited. On the path you’ll find cool anoles and dart frogs and sloths too if you are good at spotting them in the trees. The pool and hot tub were amazing and there was a deck with a grill for afternoon cookouts. There are only a few rooms for rent, so you kind of feel a bit like family while you’re there. Tris made me a delicious breakfast with white guava juice and even added maraschino cherries to my beautifully sliced banana – a pure delight! He was also very helpful with my luggage because the hill is quite steep – and just really the nicest host I’ve encountered in a very long time. You can tell he loves this place and sharing it with guests – and rightfully so because it's simply a slice of heaven on earth. If you get the chance, definitely make Los Cielos a part of your Costa Rican adventure!

We liked the lodge a lot, that it’s in the wilderness walking distance to Cahuita National Park, the beach, and the restaurants in Cahuita. The head of the staff was Gaia and she was very nice and efficient. We also liked the pool and the breakfast and the fact that for a nominal fee they did our wash and dried it.

The hotel is very close to the sea (beach is s bit farther away) und has the restaurants in walking distance. The breakfast was good and the staff very friendly (despite not speaking English). There is a shared kitchen. The parking is on the property with some shade for your car.

The tour in the park was excellent, the town is laid with things easily found we had good restraunts and ths services were freindly and helpful.
The biggest drawback is the lack of bancos atimatico that works better
The line was long and many people had to repeat the sequence of instructions to get anything yet the hotels asked for cash only. Very frustrating and scary if you didn't bring enough dollars or colony s
The grocey store delived groceries a nd took a credit card. We had such a lai back experience.

Cahuita is a laid back town at the edge of Cahuita National Park. It is seeming in wildlife. You don't even have to enter the park to see the wildlife. We saw huge green iguana, common black hawk, families of capuchin, howler and spider monkeys, green basilisk, agoutis, herons, kingfishers - all outside the park. Inside the park we saw sloths, eyelash vipers, frigate birds and raccoons in addition to the other animals we saw outside. Beaches are pristine and nice to swim in. The neighboring town of Puerto Viego was another laid back village by the sea. A tranquil place to visit!

Cahuita was a friendly small community that showed so much love to us! Conventiently located near a beautiful beach, Playa Negro, and the food was fabulous. Lobster picked straight from the tank to our plate--delicious! Chef Doria at Caribbean Soul Taste was a joy and her food was just as amazing. Stopping at her restaurant is a must if you are in Cahuita. Another must is the Cahuita Nacional Park. We saw groups of monkeys and sloths and even a blue morpho butterfly in the park--and it's free! Would return to Cahuita in a heartbeat!

Cahuita has become crowded with tourists hoping to see the wildlife in the National Park, when you have so many tourists in the park it is difficult to view the animals because they just aren’t there, the wildlife will move deeper into the rainforest to escape the gaze of humans!!

Our hosts were outstanding offering suggestions about local attractions, and local foods. The kitchen and dining facilities were very good. When one of our group had a minor medical issue our hosts arranged a home visit by a local doctor, imagine that!.
Downtown is a pleasant 20 walk away.
We would like to upgrade our rating from a 9 to a 10, please.
Excellent location near Cahuita’s centre (main road). A short walk to the national park and the other amenities in Cahuita.
Jocelyn was extremely accommodating to our group of 14, as we had the entire place booked. This was highly appreciated as we had small kids with us.
Breakfast is fulfilling, a good combination of fresh fruit, scrabbled eggs and bread all of which was washed down with juice and black coffee.
Jocelyn response to the group’s request for extra food was a superb showing caring and customer orientation.
Just cross the road and you are at your own private beach. Delicious food and smoothies at the restaurant. Stayed here at the end of our 3 week holiday and had our first sloth encounter right outside our bungalow! Everyone who works there are very friendly and the receptionists speak great English and are super helpful. The main strip in Cahuita is about 20-30 minute walk, depending how fast you walk. This meant it's very quiet when you are trying to sleep. We would definitely stay here again!!
The location was perfect for visiting the Cahuita National Park - and also close to other amenities like grocery stores and restaurants. Everything was within 5 mins walking.
The host was amazing - she provided a lot of local information including best sites and shops. She even knew the 'usual spots' where sloths would hang out. Thanks to her advice we saw sloths and even kinkajous in the evening.
Rooms are cozy and have everything you need: AC and hot water.
From the very first moment the hotel made a great impression for me. The swimming pool is located in such a perfect place that the sound of the waves relaxed me immediately I got there.
The bungalows are like a proper small house and the bath tube has an amazing size.
The Staff is super nice. I am sorry I forgot the name of the receptionist who is from Uruguay/Argentina, she was very welcoming, warm and smiley.
she checked on us at all times. Thank you
We had our own bungalow with a full kitchen, indoor and outdoor table, hammock and use of the swimming pool. The woman who owns the place is so helpful and friendly! We loved the fact we could use the bikes to cycle around the local area. Casa Martina is next to the best beach in Cahuita and a sloth lives in the tree outside the room. We had such a relaxing stay and would recommend this property to anyone visiting Cahuita! 10/10
The hotel is very comfortable with friendly staff. We had a couple of meals in the restaurant and the food was very good. The rooms are spatious and very clean. The location is just a bit removed from other hotels and properties so it's very quiet. The hotel is in front of Playa Negra which is great for a swim or relaxation. You can also find a natural pool formed between the coral just a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
Cabinas Nirvana Ecolodge is just at a few minutes walking distance from Playa Negra, a perfect surf place, and in 15 minutes walk you can easily reach the National park of Cahuita. The apartment was spacious, clean, comfortable and came with a fully equipped kitchen. Margoth is super friendly, she gave tips for my stay and she even helped to organise my transfer to the airport. I fully recommend it.
Absolutely stunning landscaping. Perfect warm pool for the kids, bungalow was private and location was great. Right next to the beach and very close to the main town- 5 minute drive or a 20 minute walk along the beach passing several restaurants, bars, and a lovely ice cream shop right on the water. The staff were awesome, so kind and friendly. Highly recommend for a stay in Cahuita.
Erina and Matheo created a real paradise! The hotel is beautifully decorated and furnished and everything was clean and nice!
They were very helpful and even do a free shuttle to the entrance of the Cahuita national park for their guests. I absolutely can recommend El colibri rojo and would definitely return!
This place is like a 3D painting in the rain forest. It has a very local vibe and is more like a finca than a hotel. The host and other guest were wonderful people. The place is surrounded by edible fruits and herbs. It is central to all of the best beaches in the Caribbean’s. Absolutely recommend!
Very calm and affordable place to stay in cahuita centre. Breakfast was good, coffee available all day, well equipped kitchen and a very peaceful environment to be in nature. Cahuita national park is around the block so great location. Bathroom were the most cleanest I've ever seen in a hostel
very beautiful place, quiet, and very close to cahuita national park. The owners are really nice and helpful. The kitchen was super nice! I think the best kitchen I’ve seen so far in all the hostels I’ve been. All in all a great experience, especially for the price!
Good value, Great location. The owner was helpful with good suggestions. It's just a block from restaurants but in a quiet area, if you don't mind the roosters. Cahuita offers several good restaurants in a laid back area with the national park easily accessible.
Location was perfect. The bungalow was at the edge of the Cahuita National Park. The wildlife came to you rather than you having to go into the park. We saw tonnes of capachin, howler and spider monkeys on the property. Loved the bungalows. Highly recommended.
The family who runs this hotel was so helpful. They suggested a tour and helped us book it and it was excellent. And when we mentioned that we needed to leave early in the morning they offered to make breakfast early.
LaShamana is a hidden gem near Cahuita. A short drive out of town and and mile up a gravel road to a hideaway in the jungle. The sisters who run the place are great hosts. Loved the natural spring-pool.
Perfect location and nice bungalow
immersion in the jungle near to Cahuita national park
very nice kitchen to cook … good place to stay couples of nights
