The town is very charming with lots of both local, mid range and upscale restaurants. The problem is with the roads. We drove 2 1/2 hours from Playa flamingo down the coast and fully half of that time was on rutted dirt roads. The town itself had ro ases that were worse than rutted with giant potholes sometimes two or 3 feet deep. It made us wish we had a four-wheel-drive which many of the locals drive. They called them quads, which are four wheeled ATVs. We were there in dry season so I can only imagine what happens to the roads in the rainy season. It would not be a pretty sight.

Costa Rica is a very special country, but what I like best of all in Nosara (Guiones/Pelada) are the people. Both Ticos (Costa Ricans) and expats are among the friendliest, most genuinely helpful and generous, and most laid back folks anywhere. And it is the gorgeous natural beauty and tranquility of this place that must be the cause.

Nosara is a small town and the area is not very developed.
Nosara is a small town and the area is not very developed. Driving was somewhat terrifying (more so than the zip lining, to be sure). The nature there is beautiful and preserved. I would recommend staying at a nice resort if you want to go there. There are several and this would have made our experience much better. Since we had a kitchen, we used the grocery store often. It had great products, but was not air conditioned.

Nosara is definitely a place to go if you like surfing.
Nosara is definitely a place to go if you like surfing. There are a variety of waves for all types of surfers and the beach is HUGE so there is a ton of room for all surfers. The water is warm and you can body surf, boogie board as well...you really want to be "into the ocean" to be in Nosara...we took beach cruisers from one to the other on the beach since the sand is compacted...that was a lot of fun...and a beautiful ride. People are GREAT in Nosara....we will return.

Nosara is a gorgeous little village by the beach, but it is fast changing. It is very now americanised, lots of new expensive houses are being built. Restaurants and bars are good, but more expensive than everywhere we have been in CR. Most shops, hotels bars and restaurants charge in $ (although you can pay cash in Colones).
I enjoyed Nosara, the Guiones Beach is gorgeous especially at sunset, but I did not feel like I was in CR. I think Samara would have been more what I was looking for.

More expensive than the average Costa Rican town, has been developing massively in the past few years, the road access is as poor as always though. Beaches are fantastic, restaurant options are amazing (this wasn’t the case a few years ago). The Nomadic Hotel a gem.
One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in and I stay in a lot of hotels! The decor was clean and slightly quirky but in a refined way, the room had an amazing view from both the balcony and the bathroom. Extremely comfy bed. No TV which I loved - but you might not. Lovely toiletries provided. The included breakfast was delicious! Great amount of choices and the restaurant in general had really good food and great selection of wine - well priced too!
This accommodation has an absolutely great location. Close to the beach and all shops and restaurants. Breakfast was always perfectly healthy and tasty. I was always looking forward to it. And they have one of the best coffees in the area. Whole hotel is very cosy, great designed and practical. I lived in a dormroom and it was very suprisingly comfortable. I spent here almost one month, so I can fully recomended. The staff was amaizing as well.
Great location and lovely facilities. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were beautifully outfitted. Normally I don't use hotel shampoo and conditioner because it's not good, but theirs was so lovely and smelled amazing. Same with the provided soaps and lotions. We appreciated the in-room coffee and tea, as well. The drinks were superb. I had undoubtable the best pina colada of my life here. Thank you for a lovely experience.
We‘ve been there for more than two weeks and extended our stay because we fell in love with this place. If you love design, it's your place to be. It's a stylish, laid back boutique hotel in the heart of nosara (guiones) The owners Luca&Lisa were lovely and prepared delicious breakfast and coffee every morning by themselfes. They have a bar with the best cocktails in town. We’re going to miss this place a lot!
Beautiful property right by Guiones Beach with lovely cafes and restaurants nearby. I stayed in the "group room" (most expensive hostel ever!) But it was a nice way to meet other people and feel like part of a community. The days revolve around surfing lessons, yoga and pool time. It's very bougie and not "real Costa Rica" but a nice way to experience a higher end hotel. Wonderful staff and good breakfast.
Exceptional staffs, friendly, warm and welcome. The room is clean and quiet, the bed is very comfortable.
Their restaurant has great food! The Huacas Ceviche and Costa Rican Fried Chicken are must-try. For their sushi night, try their Tico Roll! Special shout out to Daniella thank you for your excellent lunch and dinner services!
P.S. stunning night sky and sunrise view.
The food at the restaurant is of excellent quality & portion size however it is only open for breakfast & dinner. We were told it closed at 4pm however when we went for food at 2:30pm they were closed. There is a well known higher end (by Costa Rican standards) restaurant down the road that is an easy walk however it’s not an everyday kind of place.
living hotel is total paradise! Very peaceful space to relax and hang out. Feels like a resort without all the people and centrally located. A shuttle picked us up from Liberia airport and we never needed a car. Short walk to the beach and restaurants and not a bad meal was had. This was my first taste of Costa Rica and it was a delightful stay!
The family feel to the place was so lovely, I immediately felt at home! While some may say the distance from the beach is inconvenient I felt it helped everyone bond and the pool kept us all cool! Super easy to catch tuktuks to the beach (inexpensive and not long)
Lots of family meals were a huge pro and Fred was the best host - miss you!
Beautiful house with a gated property. Host was extremely helpful and answered messages fast. The house is so cute and the AC is amazing. Kitchen equipped with everything you could need. It is about a 5 min drive from playa guioness. Have to take a short dirt road to get to place but it is a quick drive. Would definitely stay here again.
Villa Mango was my favorite place to stay in Costa Rica! the location is tucked away and I felt like I was in my own private paradise with the pool, the room I slept in, and view of the sea. such a treasure! Jo and Agnes are truly delightful. Communal breakfast at the big table each morning was a highlight.
Staying at this hotel was an absolute delight! The pools on different levels with breathtaking views were truly a dream come true. We even had the pleasure of spotting monkeys, raccoons, and a iguana right within the hotel grounds. The experience was nothing short of magical.
First of all the places stayed , Sunset Shack has the most amazing breakfast! Also I love the shower head. The rooms have a style that I like. Off course it’s a close walk to the beach for sunset which at Nosara is like a religious experience.
I liked the general atmosphere, responsiveness to WhatsApp messages, and the friendliness of the staff. I traveled to Costa Rica for my birthday and it was so sweet for the manager, Juan, to give me a birthday treat the morning of my birthday!
Great location with a short walk through the jungle to a perfect beach. The restaurant has some of the best food that I've had in Costa Rica. The surf school onsite is top notch with great instructors and a huge selection of surfboards.
I go there for work often, as I do weddings on the beach and have to go to Nosara maybe 8-10 times a year. Many times there's no room in Green Sanctuary because everyone loves it! But that's my to-go place in Nosara.
This is one of my best places in Nosara-Guanacaste, everything is perfect. Something you should consider in this place is that you will see and hear animals / insects that are part of the experience, so be prepared.
Selina Nosara is by far the best Selina I have seen ! It's really luxurious, the people are super nice and interesting, and the room (the Suite) was perfect for us (we were 4 people) and super clean.
There are a lot of mosquitos everywhere, and it is not possible to sit outside. There are no yoga classes at the hotel as it im mentioned in the hotel description.
