We liked the proximity of the village of Soto de Cangas to Cangas de Onis which is a pleasant, attractive town, easy to access by car. You can also walk into Cangas along the river and this is 2 - 3 miles. Taxis are reasonable. Soto de Cangas is quite near to the pilgrimage site of Covadonga with its beautiful cathedral, caves and access to beautiful mountain lakes and walks. There are a few restaurants in Soto de Cangas but it is only a fairly small place and we didn't see any shops although there are plenty in Cangas de Onis.

The whole experience was amazing! The staff was very friendly and always willing to assist the best they could. Some of the staff didn't know English but we were able to communicate very well whether using Portuguese or the translator. The cleaning is done every day, they provide you new sets of towels and supplies according to what has already been used. For a 2* hotel it is a pretty good place to stay and with excellent customer service! Definitely worth the price! We would definitely recommend and go back!

Our stay with Hotel La Balsa was great! Emilio was a great host. He was so helpful with everything. We came for following Vuelta and he actually gave us many many useful information about how we can go and watch. He gave also a great tip about good local restaurant. The breakfast was so delicious. The only sad thing was we had to leave so soon. We will definitely go there again.

The staff was absolutely wonderful, very warm hospitable and welcoming. They made us a large pot of tea when we arrived and left us a pot for next day. Breakfast was good and the ruler architect of hotel was very characterful. Very peaceful and translucent, could hear the relaxing sound of river from bedroom window

All staff are brilliant, the hotel is in a great little spot, just off the main road but separated by a stream with a footbridge Parking is adequate for motorcycles but locks would be advised as they are outside in view

I want to rate it 3 star hotel since beds are so comfortable. The host is very nice lady, she put a lot of effort in this little house, well decorated, home feeling. She also came early for preparing breakfast.

absolutely nothing. In my opinion Bookings.com should not be taking bookings for this hotel. There are no safety measures. i.e. fire alarms, or instructions in the event of a fire.

The family running the hotel took extra care to make sure guests were taken care of. The homemade jams & bizcocho for breakfast were an extra touch that makes a nice detail!
