Beautiful hostal with great views. Lovely patio. Laundry done with a smile. Danny, the proprietor, was a wonderful host. Everyone in our group LOVED him. We had the best dinner in our 4 weeks on the Camino. Not a pilgrim meal but a gourmet feast. We will return. Thank you, Danny.

The town is full of historic buildings and sites, and the surrounding area is stunning and interesting. Being a significant stop on the El Camino Santigo adds to vibrancy. The viticulture and grape industry is beautiful in the surrounding region, and in a very short distance you can be lost in a myriad of very old rural villages.

Villafranca del Bierzo is an amazing town, full of history and with beautiful historic buildings. It is truly an enchanted medieval town in the path of the french Camino de Santiago. We arrived for the town’s celebration of their patron: “El Cristo de la Esperanza”. The “Ayuntamiento” organized a lot of activities, a fair, concerts until late night, wine tasting and tapas. It was memorable. The town is in the UNESCO list of historic places. The Church of Santiago with Las Puertas del Perdon, the church of San Nicolas, La Colegiata, the church of San Francisco have been built centuries ago and are witnesses of the history of the town. These buildings are artistic representations of other times and tell you about the glorious past of Villafranca del Bierzo and its vibrant present. The food is delicious.

Good central location and small terrace with view to a church on the hill above. Compact apartment well-equipped and comfortable. Parking is not easy nearby but there’s plenty up near the Tourist Office. The host was friendly and was at the apartment within a few minutes of phoning him when we arrived.

We spent only one night in Villafranca as we were walking the Camino de Santiago. Nestled between mountains, this is definitely one of the most beautiful towns we passed through, and there were many lovely ones. Points of interest include La Puerta del Perdón and Plaza Mayor. Puerta del Perdón Restaurant served us one of the best meals we had on our entire trip. Villafranca is in the famous Bierzo wine region, so don't miss trying the wonderful wines!

I am a pilgrim walking along Camino de Santiago.
I am a pilgrim walking along Camino de Santiago. Camino Santiago is going through Villafranco-del-Bierzo. Yo can have rest and good meal at any cafe or restaurant here. They are always ready for pilgrims. The town has special signs for those who walks along Camino, so yes, it is easy to walk around. There are many churches there, a castle and a very beautiful garden which dates back to the 17th century.

Amazing place to stay!. The owner was so kind since the first minute (it's a family business run by them). Something to highlight is how comfortable, beautiful, and clean the place is. Also, what they offer is way above the average bunk bed of a common albergue. You have a single bed, with clean cotton sheets (not the usual paper ones) plus a comfy blanket. Moreover, I had dinner there, which included a bottle of wine from the family's vineyard (you can't beat that!).
Definitely a must in Villafranca del Bierzo.
Elegantly decorated, kind and welcoming staff, generous textiles feel luxurious in this mountain town setting after a 22Km trek with full pack on a sunny winter’s day.
The bed was comfortable, the soak in a shallow warm bath absolutely decadent. Directions given to the Plaza Mayor in search of a snack and a cold beverage while enjoying a rare day of bright sunshine.
Breakfast options were abundant and I felt spoiled with a place set for me in the side dining room.
A true gem along the Camino.
Elias and Humberto are the very best of hosts! The apartment is very beautiful with a great patio overlooking the mountains. We planned a rest day here, but we stayed extra due to the illness of one of our group. Our hosts were the most helpful getting us to a hospital, providing a car, and letting us stay an extra night as we needed. The apartment is in a great location, many bars right outside your door and located in Plaza Mayor. So so glad we found this place!
This boutique hotel is the result of a 30 year passion project of the owner and it shows in every detail! Roland was so incredibly kind and made it feel like you were staying at the home of a close friend rather than a hotel. The property itself is incredibly beautiful with views over the surrounding vineyards and valleys. The rooms and beds were stylish and comfortable, pool refreshing, and a truly outstanding homemade breakfast!
This is a fantastic place! Extremely clean, great location for pilgrims, Dani the owner goes above and beyond to ensure that all your needs are taken care of. Conveniently they have a dining area available in the premises so you have the option to just enjoy, eat and relax all without leaving the hotel. I had to leave early to continue my Camino and Dani arranged early breakfast for me in my room. I highly recommend it!
The showers are great, better than of most Hotels. The owner cares about it guests, I got there at night and was very helpful. Full sheets with a blanket are provided. Every bed has light and power plug. Good lockers. This was by far my best value for money stay in the Camino de Santiago.
The room was tidy, cozy and very well equiped.
The hotel is on top of a hill so the landscape is beautiful.
The owner made me feel super confortable, I enjoyed the conversation and the atmosphere of such a special place.
I am really looking forward to come back.
The location is very convenient, at the center of Villafranca del Bierzo, still nearby parking was available in the street. The rooms are large and functional. There was no breakfast served in the hostal but there are some nearby restaurants open in the morning.
Deluxe accommodations at a very reasonable price. A hotel of this quality anywhere in the U.S. would cost several times as much. The location is right on the main plaza of this beautiful old town. Great buffet breakfast as well, with coffee made to order.
The property was perfectly located, on the river and on the Camino path. I was greeted warmly and provided and early check in. My room was warm and clean. It wad delightful. I then enjoyed a light lunch at the restaurant.
Easy to find. Super clean. Big bright room and bathroom. Lady working there was lovely. No food but gorgeous meal in restaurant at bottom of the street. Very handy to Camino route.
I'm so pleased I stayed in this hotel.
This place far exceeded my expectations. For the same price as a top bunk with paper sheets in other albergues along the Camino de Santiago, they had real, clean sheets and single beds. Food in house was fabulous.
Very nice, central located hotel with a beautiful balconies and view on main square.
Very kinde, friendly and helpful stuff.
I would come again for sure.
